I loved this park- every morning, for the last 8 years, we've walked the trails. It was beautiful- we'd see wildlife, deer, lonely bucks, coyotes. It was beautiful and peaceful. Now the city focuses on the playground and indeed they keep the paths clear of snow very fast. But that's the only good thing. There is trash and brocken glass and human waste from Mississippi all the way down to Illif. The water is dirty, there are homeless people camping everywhere, started small, then the tents came, now bringing their trucks into the grass. No more deer, no more beauty, the coyotes were pushed towards the ballfield and they don't seem afraid of humans anymore. No more hawks, no more bird watchers... trash after an event at the ball fields is there for days , being blown by the wind. Broken glass everywhere- so be careful when walking your dogs, grass fires , dirty and unsafe crossing at Mexico ( broken glass everywhere, trash, weird traffic signal that drivers do not respect ( it's 15sec, people!), speeding drivers, the bike lane collects trash and is unusable, huge patches of ice right at the crossing and on the trail in spots - plenty people had taken falls there . Grocery carts in the river, trash and waste everywhere, one Ranger patrolling (whom I believe is in charge of 10 parks), no...

Nice open space, neighborhood park with 2 ballfields and a playground. If you're lucky you might see a deer. I've seen some coyotes in the field, but they keep their distance from me and my dog. The area was frequented by Native Americans in the past. The City of Aurora keeps the park clean and the walks clear of snow in the winter. One of the best things about living in Aurora.
Update: Unfortunately, I am updating my 5 star rating to a one. In the past 1.5 years the unhoused (homeless) have tried to move in. The City of Aurora cleans up quickly, but the activity and trash has eliminated habitat for the native wildlife. I have seen trash in remote areas of the park and in clear view. Tollgate Creek is full of trash at the crossings. It’s so sad because this was one of the best features about living in this community. Time to move...
Read moreHuge open park, with 2 baseball fields, a playground, open areas and prairie dog hills. If you're a biker, it connects with quite a few trail systems (Highline Canal, Powerline Train, Cherry Creek Spillway & more) and leads to Treadz, Peak 2 Peak Taphouse, and more.
Lots of wildlife in the bushes. Birdhouses all over, and hawks constantly circling. Fox, coyotes, raccoons and even beavers and the occasional deer. Walk with caution near dusk. Good for bird watching.
