Ordered online and waited for my order in my car. Came in 25 minutes later and they didnât even start on my order and didnât even know the order was placed. There were no customers inside the entire time. I could see the girl at the cash register on the phone while I waited in my car in stead of ringing my order in. At one point she wiped some silverware down and looked back at my car a few times. A few of my pupusas didnât have much meat at all, the ingredients all spilled out on the side, and were extremely oil which isnât their normal quality. Very disappointing. I also ordered 2 chicken tamals and they asked me if I had more time to wait because they were frozen and they only had pork available. I donât eat pork. So I asked for a refund for those. All of this happened at 6pm⊠3 hours before closing. When she went to the kitchen to notify them about my order she went back there laughing about it and the lady in the kitchen joined in. Honestly she needs to be fired or this place needs to stick with serving their own family members and not the public. I want to mention I waited PATIENTLY for my 8 pupusas and never once made it seem urgent. Waiting for my food is one thing, but then getting a horrible quality just because they were rushing is another. $63 down the drain due to...
Read moreI hadn't had pupusas in a hot second, and was excited to find this place. Pupusas Paradise did not disappoint! The lady at the counter was very friendly and answered questions and suggested fillings for pupusas. I ordered two, one with chorizo and the other bean, cheese, and loroco (a kind of edible flower apparently) and they were both good! Served with traditional (?) pickled cabbage (a sort of rajas I think), and two sauces, one spice and the other mild. They were both delicious, and much bigger than I would have expected! One would probably be enough to fill me, but I handled two just fine. As I was getting up to leave, a man eating there with his daughters asked me how I liked it, and we had a friendly conversation about his life an how he was about to go back to El Salvador to visit family. I was only there for a bit, but felt right at home, even being the only gringo in there (I got the impression that their main clientele are Salvadorans looking for a taste of home).
Great food, friendly staff AND customers. 10/10 will...
Read moreUp until a week ago, if you would have told me to go get a "pupusa," I would've looked at you funny. The name sounds like an immature word that I would probably say a lot when I'm intoxicated.
To me, the outer shell of a pupusa is the offspring of a fluffy quesadilla and a Greek flatbread combined. However, the pan fried part is not the only exciting part about this El Salvadorian treasure.....it's also the stuffing that goes inside it! From Pupusas Paradise, I went with the Asada (beef), Chicharron con queso (pork), and Picosa (cheese and jalapeno). My two favorites were the Asada and Chicharron.
In addition to that, the cabbage salsa was tangy and spicy that goes on top of the pupusas. At $3-$5, these were amazing! The staff was friendly and helpful. But.... just a heads up before you go giving them less stars, this place gets super busy, the small restaurant needs to cater to all the other orders, so expect a longer wait. Great things comes to those who wait! Kidding, enjoy and tell me...
