Was asked to leave a review and happily will because I understand the impact a Google review can make on a small business!
I was pleased with the banh mi that my husband and I had. Service was friendly and the staff were kind enough to allow me to wait in the shop after my meal for their Labubu drop today (2/22/25) which I made time to attend.
I cleared time out of my day to get to Banh Mi Oven at 1:55PM to buy lunch and queue up in line for the 4PM Labubu drop. Is 2+ hours for a collectible toy crazy? Well, not exactly. I found that waiting that time for 3 boxes to be an easy wait, considering how scarce the boxes are nowadays. I was expecting to leave with 3 Labubus as that was the limit advertised 2 days in advance on their Instagram..
However, I am removing 1 star from my review because, after an influencer decided to advertise the drops and butt in, the limit was changed from 3 Labubus to 1 Labubu per customer at 3:47PM, minutes before the drop after I’d already budgeted my time to secure 3 boxes.
I couldn’t care less if I was limited to just 1 box from the start, but making that change after people made plans to come in with an expectation outlined days prior is just.. lowkey, a bit disrespectful and inconsiderate.
I know the business is young; I will still support, but changing something last minute, day-of is an inconvenience for customers who want to support you. At the end of the day, a business is a transactional interaction between business and customer that requires some modicum of respect and understanding and I was left a little disappointed.
Let’s hope for better! I know adding Labubus to the business adds a new stressor and new logistics to figure out. I have hope these drops will be more streamlined...
Read morePlace is still not fully open, so there was no seating yet and we had to take our order to go. But it was very clean. Parking was a bit limited because they share the small lot with the other establishments (barbershop, piercing and tattoo place, soup and sandwich place) there, but the side road is easy enough to walk from if you must park there. The staff was very friendly and helpful, offering to explain what was in each sandwich. We got the shredded pork and the char siu which were both excellent flavorful sandwiches. The bread was good, crispy on the outside but soft enough to chew through (no stale baguette here). They even sliced up the sandwiches for us into more manageable half foot subs. They had all the veggies and toppings already in the sandwich, so just warning y'all that if you can't take the heat of jalapeños or don't like any other banh mi fixins, make sure you let them know to hold em. Their Vietnamese iced coffee was also great, and in a pretty large to-go cup. Pricing was at par with most sandwich joints. Overall a great experience and will look forward to swinging by after their full opening, maybe for a...
Read moreI am always looking for a good Banh Mi sandwich. I was up in Austin picking up my car from the dealership and getting hungry when I came across this restaurant, Banh Mi Oven, while on the way to H-Mart. The pictures really don't do it justice. The place is actually pretty spacious and Airy and even has a patio for eating outside. The menu as you can see is pretty extensive for a specialty house like this. I ordered the regular cold cuts combo Banh Mi an added pork belly for a bit of a crunch. I've eaten this type of Sandwich all over the world and this was definitely one of the best. It had all the right meats, vegetables, pate, mayo, jalapenos Etc in a nice crusty yet soft on the inside roll. Truthfully, this was the best Vietnamese Banh Mi I have had in Texas and for that matter anywhere. I watched it all down with a Vietnamese iced coffee which was equally fantastic. If you are in Austin for any reason, including going to H mart, you got to try this place. You won't be disappointed. By the way the owner and his assistant were really friendly and very quick...
