I'm only giving two stars because I used to love going here. I took my kids and mom up there over the weekend for a special occasion, my daughter's 17th birthday she just loves the Croissants. We waited for a table for about 15 minutes, got seated. Looked over the menus, waited for our server. A different server came and gave us some Croissants sadly that's all the food we got. She also offered us water and when I said no my daughter would like this to drink the server with the blue hair interrupted me and she would tell that to our server and walked off. Never asked if we wanted the water while we wait since she wasn't going to bring the other drinks and she didn't even stay long enough to hear what everyone wanted to drink or explain that they were short staffed. So we just kinda shrugged it off since we loved cheddar's so much, and wait for our server. We waited and waited, we even pushed the call server button on the table but it flashed so long we had to do it twice. The blue hair server came back to help the people at the table next to us, completely ignored me trying to get her attention when she was done helping them. I get that we weren't her table, but it's just rude. We finally got up and walked out. I asked the hosts how long we had been there since they log when you give them your name. We were seated 40 minutes prior to leaving (don't forget the 15 minute wait). I also stood there waiting for the manager, for about 10 minutes, then I saw a family that had come in about 10 minutes after us already had drinks and food I was disgusted, my daughter wanted to go here for her birthday and the staff couldn't be bothered. Didn't see the manager, left to go somewhere else to eat because my mother is diabetic and she needed food and my younger one was getting a headache. Called cheddar's and asked for the manager waited another 10 minutes on hold, he finally comes on and I'm trying to put in my kids order at the restaurant we ended up at and I asked them to hold on. After a few minutes I heard the manager say he was going to hang up so I had to walk away for a moment to try to get this resolved. I explained the situation and he asked for my email address to send a gift card or coupon or SOMETHING. Never recieved anything, gave them 2 days. So 15 minute wait for a table, 40 minutes at table, 4 Croissants, no water, no drink that my daughter wanted, frustration, 10 minutes at the hosts stand, 15 minutes on the phone. Plus the time to get to a restaurant that served food. Thank you for making my daughter's birthday special and memorable, wasting our time. We were all looking forward to specific dishes and I was going to take home something for my partner Togo so everyone left disappointed and hungry, although I lost my appetite after talking...

I am writing to express my profound disappointment and outrage following my family’s visit to Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen at 13301 B, N Hwy 183, Austin, TX, on November 8, 2024. What should have been a peaceful family dinner turned into an absolute nightmare.
While dining, multiple families, including mine, had their belongings stolen. These items included critical personal identification such as my driver’s license, passport, social security cards, and expensive personal property. To this day, I am still without identification, causing tremendous disruption to my daily life.
This incident is particularly egregious because the manager on duty, Josep Garcia, was aware of similar thefts occurring the night before, including an employee’s car being hijacked while on shift. Despite this, no efforts were made to notify patrons, post warnings, or implement additional security measures. This complete disregard for guest safety is unacceptable and irresponsible.
Even worse, stolen belongings from other victims were found discarded just outside the restaurant under a tree—a stark reminder of the lack of security and urgency from your establishment. How can customers trust that their safety is valued when repeated incidents go ignored?
This experience has been nothing short of hell. The financial burden alone—such as replacing a single car key costing nearly $1,000 that insurance won’t cover—has been overwhelming. Not to mention the emotional toll of navigating airport security and daily life without identification.
I am appalled by Cheddar's lack of accountability and transparency. Your failure to take proactive measures to protect your guests is a betrayal of our trust in your establishment. This incident is not just a theft; it is a reflection of negligence and indifference to the well-being of your patrons. You know it's wrong when I finally get in contact with the Austin PD, their response is, “This has been an ongoing issue with that
Until this situation is addressed, including increased security measures, clear communication of risks, and accountability for what occurred, I will ensure that my experience is shared widely. Future customers deserve to know the dangers of dining at your establishment.
This has been the worst dining experience of my life, and I demand an immediate response and steps to ensure no other family endures...
Read moreI've eaten at Cheddar's so many times over the years and generally most of their food knocks it out of the park. If I'm being honest I don't even like going to sit down restaurants these days just because after all the experiences just this location has provided for me and at this point I've at least tried half of their menu I can genuinely say if I go to a Applebee's or Chili's I end up feeling underwhelmed pretty much every time because they just don't compare to Cheddar's.
So we wanted to try a bunch of stuff on our date that for the most part we hadn't tried before. And overall an absolute amazing experience. Everyone that interacted with us from the staff was a very polite and attentive.
If you ever think to yourself I'm not adventurous enough when I try new foods, go to Cheddar's. In the entire hour and a half we were there the only things that were "negative" parts of our experience were three minor things. The tortilla chips for the queso and spinach dip were just not really anything that stood out. They kind of almost tasted like store brand tortilla chips. The ranch dipping sauce was a bit watered down for our liking. The flavor of the ranch was quite good, but if your ranch dressing is thinner than most pizza places ranch it's a little too thin. The last thing to mention is the fact that the french fries though they tasted good and were hot and fresh when I received them, 5 minutes after receiving them they were no longer good. They lost their freshness way too quickly and I couldn't tell but it seems like they're not double fried which would probably make them a lot more crispy and probably last a lot longer as well.
In conclusion of the novel that I have just written, this location over the years has shocked me with just how great it is. Try whatever you can. If you're a vegetarian if you're a meat eater if you like good pasta dishes like some fish and chips or just looking for a good drink after work, Cheddar's is a good place...
