Walking into this restaurant, I was greeted with the aroma of fragrant herbs & spices. The host greeted me warmly and inquired of my eating preference. I was there for the buffet. It’s the only way I can enjoy Indian Food and be able to take advantage of the variety of dishes this culture has to offer.

The cuisine at IndiaGate is South Indian with a coconut & tangy flavour. The spice level of most of the dishes is perfectly balanced and tolerable. From the blend of spices, different flavors dancing on my tongue…tantalizing my tastebuds to the freshness and quality of the ingredients used and the attentive service I received, I was impressed and took my time to savor each delectable bite. The dishes that impressed me most (the ones whose name I remember) were the Chicken Tikki Masala, Chicken Biryani, Chicken Curry, Chaat, Curry Potatoes, Coconut Rice, and the Butter Naan (I usually order Garlic Naan upon being seated, but the hot, freshly prepared, soft, melt in your mouth, Butter Naan was perfectly satisfying). All the dishes were quite flavorful and delicious, I just can’t recall what they were! ☺️ Sadly, I didn’t get a chance to try the Tandoori Chicken (could not take another bite) or the Goat Curry (available on Sunday’s Buffet). To rectify this, I’m planning another visit soon.

I often skip desserts; but, the Manager made a few recommendations and I obliged…the Hot Tapioca Milk Pudding, the Raisin & Nut Laddu (I think), and the FREE Mango Lassi (my all time favorite). They were all delicious; but, a little too sweet for me. Yes, I know…I take the fun out of desserts as I prefer them “lightly sweetened”, but they are very much worth a try at this charming establishment.

In summary, I will be making another trip very soon…New Years Day, to be precise, when they host their “Grand Buffet”, to enjoy the many delectable and delightful dishes IndiaGate has to offer! What really makes this restaurant worthy of the 5 Stars I’ve given it, was the opportunity to be introduced to the chef and staff who prepared the dishes I ate. They were very humble and truly cared to know if I had enjoyed the food. That to me shows a level of pride and the appreciation that I chose to spend my time and money with their establishment.

Add IndiaGate to your list of restaurants…you can never be disappointed when you’re treated...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at india gate and wanted to share my experience. From the moment I stepped through the door, I was greeted with warm hospitality and a welcoming atmosphere. Here's my detailed review of the food and overall dining experience:

Ambience: The restaurant has a charming and cozy ambiance, with comfortable seating arrangements and tasteful decor. The lighting is just right, creating a relaxed and enjoyable dining environment.

Service: The service at India gate was exceptional. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly. They promptly took our orders and ensured that we had everything we needed throughout the meal. The waitstaff also provided helpful recommendations and were genuinely interested in making our experience memorable.

Menu: The menu at India gate is diverse and offers a wide range of options to cater to various preferences. Whether you're a meat lover, vegetarian, or vegan, you'll find plenty of delicious choices. The menu also includes a variety of beverages, including alcoholic and non-alcoholic options, to complement the meal.

Appetizers: We started with the Chicken Pakora, seekh kebab, and it was a delightful introduction to the meal. The flavors were well-balanced, and the presentation was aesthetically pleasing. It set a high standard for the rest of the dining experience.

Main Course: The main course at INDIA GATE RESTAURANT exceeded my expectations. I ordered the Butter Naan and butter chicken, and it was cooked to perfection. The ingredients were fresh, and the dish was bursting with flavors. Each bite was a true delight, and the portion size was generous.

Overall Experience: My overall experience at India gate restaurant was outstanding. The combination of excellent service, delectable food, and inviting atmosphere made for a memorable dining experience. The attention to detail and commitment to quality truly set this restaurant apart.

I highly recommend INDIA GATE RESTAURANT to anyone looking for a remarkable dining experience. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply want to enjoy a delicious meal, this restaurant is a top choice. I can't wait to visit again and try more dishes from their...

This India Gate has the most authentic Indian Cuisine in Central Texas and South Texas that I’ve tasted. The Goat Biryani was outstanding! One of the best I’ve ever had and I’ve eaten biryanis all over the world. It’s well seasoned & the rice was cooked to perfection. It has a semi-gravy that is essential for a proper biryani. The Butter Chicken—also one of the best: tomatoey, tangy, slightly sweet, perfect amount of salt and smooth masala combination. The Paneer-Cashew Pulao was also great—unique to the area. The only suggestion I have about the pulao is to minimize the use whole spices, as they tend to fragment during the cooking & sharing process. Naans were fluffy & tasty. Gobi Manchurian was perfect: crunchiness, flavor and overall texture (outstanding!). The Apollo Fish was very good as well, but this was a spicier version—you can ask to reduce the green chilis. Mango Lassi was thick, rich & mangoey. The Masala Chai: Insanely Delicious, Rich and Creamy, but I need it sweeeeeet, so I was prepared by bringing my own Punjabi Shakkar (Punjabi Evaporated Cane Juice). Staff was also amazing—we were able to meet the Head Chef: Padma. Overall, popular Indian Cuisine from North to South is typically spicy & warming, so prepare your palate. NOTE: Many people in the world are allergic to certain peppers and chilies, so it’s not necessarily Indian Cuisine that can irritate the gut & bowel. What makes it worse (in the gut) is the mix of chilies & dairy, which can potentially compound any irritability. We’ll return for the buffet and do another review. Thank you India Gate for bringing so many great tastes of India to...

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Perfect venue for our baby's first birthday! We recently hosted our daughter's first birthday party here and couldn't have been happier with the experience. From the initial planning stages to the final goodbye, the staff went above and beyond to make our celebration special. The team was incredibly accommodating with our party setup and timing, making sure everything ran smoothly despite the unpredictability that comes with hosting for toddlers and young children. They were patient, attentive, and genuinely seemed to enjoy being part of our milestone celebration. The space was perfect for our group—comfortable for adults while being safe and welcoming for the little ones running around. The food was delicious and arrived promptly, which was essential for keeping our young guests (and their parents) happy. Several family members specifically commented on how flavorful their meals were. What really stood out was how the staff treated our daughter and the other children. They were warm, friendly, and made us feel like our celebration truly mattered to them. It's rare to find a restaurant that welcomes families with young children so wholeheartedly. If you're looking for a place to host a children's birthday party or any family celebration, I highly recommend this restaurant. They helped create memories we'll treasure forever. Thank you for making our baby's first birthday so special!

Last week we took catering from Indiagateaustin below items... Thank you for providing the tasty food items. Most of the food trays were completed on the same day. I would have rated 4 but they were few items burnt rating reflects the same. Day We Took the Food: Mar-05-2022 I just want to share our feedback with the Indiagateaustin team. We have ordered the below items for our lunch except below two rest of the items good. Onion Pakoda Paneer Tikka Masala Aloo Mutter Tindora Fry with peanuts - Veg pulao Gulab Jamun Veg Manchurian --- Manchurian was too big, saggy, and dry. It would have been small and juicy. Butter Naan -- Completely burnt, we trashed the entire large tray. I have requested money back for a large butter naan tray for some reason, and the manager said it's complicated to return the money back. Instead, they offered me to take some food. As I could not take that much food the next day, I took one chicken biriyani. I am hoping Indiagateaustin allows me to compensate the rest of the money with other food items whenever we order.
