Went to this location since we were on the North side of Austin. Everything went wrong. We usually go to the South Austin location which is awesome.
My husband ordered Rustlers Roundup which is 3 eggs any style (my husband asked for scrambled) with ham, bacon, and sausage. I ordered Texas Two-Step. Waiter came back with my plate and said that he accidentally ordered the chicken fried steak breakfast for my husband and if he wanted that instead or if my husband really wanted the Rustlers he could go and order it but it'll be a wait in which I said yes my husband wants what he originally ordered please. Once he brought the plate, the eggs were over easy (yolk everywhere) which my husband does not eat (this is why he ordered scrambled) so I gave my husband my scrambled eggs. I mentioned this to the waiter not to get more eggs made but just so he knows that it was ordered/made wrong and he didn't care and said "yeah yeah so he doesn't eat over easy, okay I got that". Then I get the ticket to pay and I'm charged $1.50 extra surcharge for the Rustler plate since eggs are pricey right now which I understand and don't mind at all, IF I had been given the eggs that we actually ordered. I expected him to at least give us that discount since our order was wrong but no discount or apology was given. Never again will I go to this location. He was in a rush since we got there and it wasn't a busy time (8:30-9am on a Wednesday) so I'm not sure why he was in a rush to do things or not...
Read moreIt's my daughters birthday and she had never been to Jim's so I suggested we go. We sat ourselves and were greated by a waiter named Danté. Very patient gentleman. We let him know we were waiting on one more person to join our table. He was fine with it and told us just let him know when we were ready. My daughter and I were enjoying our visit and debating on what to order. Our third party arrived and we still didn't know what we wanted because there were so many menu options, lol. They have so many comfort food options. So our waiter returns for about the 7th time and we are finally ready to order. My daughter starts telling her order and then she ask if she can have a side of gravy. I looked at her and I said of course you can it's your birthday, immediately Danté asked her if it really was her birthday and how old was she and he looked her in the eyes and was like Happy Birthday always believe in yourself and do good to others and the Karma will come back to you. He said so much more to her and he was so genuinely sweet.. I feel like I gained a new BFF today and he don't even know it. As we were eating our food he brought her a to go box with a slice of cake and he had written Happy 22nd Birthday on it for her. He said your in control of your life the only thing you cannot control is if you wake up tomorrow or not so go celebrate and live life to the fullest.
Jim's you have an amazing waiter on your staff and I will definitely be coming in for more...
Read moreI hate that this was my experience but it was simply the worst restaurant experience of my life. My partner and I ordered clearly (as a long time server myself, I know how to order succinctly). The guy literally came back three times, to as how I wanted my eggs (over medium), what kind of gravy (partner ordered white) and did I want biscuits and gravy (yes, that’s exactly what I ordered the FIRST TIME). Both orders came out totally wrong. Well done eggs, floppy meats and hash browns(I ordered well done meat and NO hash browns). Partner’s food came out with no gravy. I had to go fetch ketchup on my own because the server only came back to the table with our food that took two trips. When I told him my eggs were wrong, he said the kitchen didn’t speak English and then he just VANISHED. We never saw him again. Had to wave down another server to get my eggs re-cooked and then get our check. I guess our original server just walked out of the job. Every single table that didn’t have people at them were piled with dirty dishes. The whole place was a wreck. I appreciate that the entire staff, save one, were elderly folks but come on. Waiting tables is not rocket science....
