Went to this location since we were on the North side of Austin. Everything went wrong. We usually go to the South Austin location which is awesome.

My husband ordered Rustlers Roundup which is 3 eggs any style (my husband asked for scrambled) with ham, bacon, and sausage. I ordered Texas Two-Step. Waiter came back with my plate and said that he accidentally ordered the chicken fried steak breakfast for my husband and if he wanted that instead or if my husband really wanted the Rustlers he could go and order it but it'll be a wait in which I said yes my husband wants what he originally ordered please. Once he brought the plate, the eggs were over easy (yolk everywhere) which my husband does not eat (this is why he ordered scrambled) so I gave my husband my scrambled eggs. I mentioned this to the waiter not to get more eggs made but just so he knows that it was ordered/made wrong and he didn't care and said "yeah yeah so he doesn't eat over easy, okay I got that". Then I get the ticket to pay and I'm charged $1.50 extra surcharge for the Rustler plate since eggs are pricey right now which I understand and don't mind at all, IF I had been given the eggs that we actually ordered. I expected him to at least give us that discount since our order was wrong but no discount or apology was given. Never again will I go to this location. He was in a rush since we got there and it wasn't a busy time (8:30-9am on a Wednesday) so I'm not sure why he was in a rush to do things or not...

It's my daughters birthday and she had never been to Jim's so I suggested we go. We sat ourselves and were greated by a waiter named Danté. Very patient gentleman. We let him know we were waiting on one more person to join our table. He was fine with it and told us just let him know when we were ready. My daughter and I were enjoying our visit and debating on what to order. Our third party arrived and we still didn't know what we wanted because there were so many menu options, lol. They have so many comfort food options. So our waiter returns for about the 7th time and we are finally ready to order. My daughter starts telling her order and then she ask if she can have a side of gravy. I looked at her and I said of course you can it's your birthday, immediately Danté asked her if it really was her birthday and how old was she and he looked her in the eyes and was like Happy Birthday always believe in yourself and do good to others and the Karma will come back to you. He said so much more to her and he was so genuinely sweet.. I feel like I gained a new BFF today and he don't even know it. As we were eating our food he brought her a to go box with a slice of cake and he had written Happy 22nd Birthday on it for her. He said your in control of your life the only thing you cannot control is if you wake up tomorrow or not so go celebrate and live life to the fullest.

Jim's you have an amazing waiter on your staff and I will definitely be coming in for more...

I hate that this was my experience but it was simply the worst restaurant experience of my life. My partner and I ordered clearly (as a long time server myself, I know how to order succinctly). The guy literally came back three times, to as how I wanted my eggs (over medium), what kind of gravy (partner ordered white) and did I want biscuits and gravy (yes, that’s exactly what I ordered the FIRST TIME). Both orders came out totally wrong. Well done eggs, floppy meats and hash browns(I ordered well done meat and NO hash browns). Partner’s food came out with no gravy. I had to go fetch ketchup on my own because the server only came back to the table with our food that took two trips. When I told him my eggs were wrong, he said the kitchen didn’t speak English and then he just VANISHED. We never saw him again. Had to wave down another server to get my eggs re-cooked and then get our check. I guess our original server just walked out of the job. Every single table that didn’t have people at them were piled with dirty dishes. The whole place was a wreck. I appreciate that the entire staff, save one, were elderly folks but come on. Waiting tables is not rocket science....

One of the best breakfast places I’ve ever been to. We were waved quickly to our table. Although it wasn’t her table, another waitress got us started with our drinks! Super nice lady. Our waitress, Charlotte(?), was the sweetest lady. She made sure our coffee cups were full 24/7, got our orders easily customized (she really knows the menu!) and ensured we had condiments before the meal! The food is relatively cheap, but FRESH. Portions are massive, and tastes so good! We will 100000% be back. It was busy, but I’m surprised that there was no wait. After tasting the food, this place should be packed. All of the employees were working with a smile, and just seemed to be having a good day! I overheard the waitress talking about their college kids to each other while making coffee - it seems pretty wholesome here. I had the honor of being their first payment by apple watch lol My only concern… please renovate this place. The potential of an atomic-style diner is amazing! Rip up the carpets, shades instead of blinds, a new roof, new lighting, new frames… the potential is there! Reason being, it’s very dated and a tad dingey looking, even if it’s clean.

Classic diner around North Austin. Came here for breakfast before work and got myself an eggs benny. Not the best I’ve had but did the trick. Hollandaise was pretty good. However one of the eggs wasn’t poached and was basically hard boiled. The other one was perfect though. I wasn’t a fan of the protein either. It was ham, but I wasn’t too enthralled by it. It reminded me of deli ham. Hash browns were delicious as always. The fruit was a nice touch at the end but some of them weren’t sweet and just sour. Location is a bit outdated which is fine, but I couldn’t help and notice how dusty and dirty the blinds were. The service was quick and kind though. I’ve been to the other location up the freeway and definitely prefer that place more than this one. I feel pretty neutral about this location. Not bad, but not great either.

Enjoyed a fantastic steak and eggs here. I got the 10oz ribeye and it was cooked perfectly. The steak was thick and juicy and seasoned perfectly. I requested medium eggs and they actually did them correctly. Eggs yolk was perfect and not over cooked. Usually when I order medium eggs somewhere they come runny and I don't like that. Hash browns were thick and crispy, very good. The biscuits were fantastic with a golden light crust and moist inside. I drank an Arnold palmer and the drink was fantastic as well. Our server was very nice and the food came out pretty quickly and it was pretty busy. The place has a vintage diner feel which is exactly what I look for when choosing a breakfast establishment. Great place!
