Kenny's Oak Grill is probably some of the best casual-serves-breakfast-all-day food that I've had in a long while. Given that the places gives all types of "independently owned and operated Perkins"-vibes, inside of Austin, Minnesota, I'm just as surprised as you will be.

There are a couple interesting twists, but the menu consists largely of classic American diner food. Diner food is comforting but often comes at the consequences of flavor or texture or your indigestion from all the grease you've consumed once you've finished eating - here, though, despite the food concepts being similar enough, the preparation and results were exceptional in a way that diners typically fail in.

We had fried green beans, beer-battered haddock with fries, and raspberry fritter French toast (made from some kind of house raspberry bread). The green beans, haddock, and fries were fried perfectly - it was exceptional how good French fries can be, crispy and light, no soggy; the green beans too were delicious in a way that I didn't expect. The raspberry French toast made me want to order another stack. My only regret on the meal was that I didn't get a slice of delicious-looking our afterwards.

Seriously, if you find yourself in Austin, Minnesota looking for something to eat, Kenny's will surprise you in all...

The service was terrible the waitress was completely rude and disrespectful and when I asked for the total because I only had $20 on me to pay for her meal my fiance's meal she refused to give me the total twice when I try to cancel the order because I finally got to Total after she put it in she refused to cancel the order and told us we had to take it and pay for it anyways and then as we were getting ready to leave the restaurant cuz she took the $20 and cancel off the 292 we were getting ready to leave the restaurant the young lady waitress when the yellow shorts with long black hair glasses and bright red lipstick came to our table and told my friend and fiance that said next time make sure you have enough to pay for your food before you order it we asked for the total twice from your waitress before the order was put in so hurt coming like that was very considerate lucky food then just get dumped floor because I was so pissed at the way we were treated talk to and denied proper service and I will post this on...

We had a couple bad experience with this restaurant first one they never brought me my hash browns after she said they were on the way and at the time to pay she told us we should have reminded her but as a customer it's not up to us to make sure she does her job and then today we picked up our food to go and when I arrived there the food was sitting on the counter not under a heat lamp and my eggs were over cooked they were green and I could pick up the slab of scrambled eggs all at once with my fork and the rest of the food was warm and when I needed to talk to someone they never spoken to me I drove past and they were not as busy as they made it sound it is a shame because we were regular customers but in this past month or so the staff is rude and the food is not the greatest over cooked and cold never has this been an issue till now and they now lost a...

We came to Austin for the SPAM museum and then wanted to continue the theme with SPAM for lunch. It is hard to come by in the town which is surprising (you’d think you’d lean into it given tourists) but Kenny’s had it on their menu and had it easy to find (I guess I heard some people had it but you had to specially request it something we didn’t want to do). The place is very cute, very busy at lunch but we sat at the counter and had a great waitress. Attentive and had suggestions and the service was quick - it didn’t seem like there was a shortage of employees! Loved the spam “fries” and split the spam sandwich, both delicious and plenty to share, they don’t skimp! (Terrible pictures but sharing anyway!)

This was a very unique place to eat. What was great about this place, besides the delicious burger, onion rings, and Cluckers we shared, was the service. We were a group of teachers eating there before a presentation on pensions. We had the luck of landing a waitress who was also an educator. Talk about a great person. She was friendly and a delight to joke around with. There was another server or two who warmly greeted us as we entered and left. Just a nice place to be. We have to try the milk shakes next time.

My favorite breakfast restaurant in Austin, MN. I had the biscuits and gravy, the biscuits were fluffy and fresh with a ton of gravy on top. I added two eggs over easy with sausage links which looked to come from a local meat locker. The next day I had the chorizo omelette which actually had a spicy flavor, I did add Tabasco and salsa but I could taste the chorizo so kudos. The staff were friendly and made sure everything was good. The food was a good price for a good home style cooked meal.
