UPDATE. Came back and they were much more accommodating. Shockingly they actually can change the TVs to show the game of your choice. Service was great. Happy to have given them another shot.
Original Review: I am a local resident and came here twice their opening weekend as I was very excited about a great place for beers, sports, and some German food. Unfortunately both visits were bad but giving them three stars since it’s their first weekend.
First visit was with my family. They were trying but the pretzels were cold, the crab dip was cold, and we were given dirty dishes (not like slightly dirty, but plates that literally hadn’t even been washed off from the previous patron). It was disgusting.
I came back alone to hopefully watch my favorite NFL team on Sunday at 330. I didnt’ see my team playing on any TV, so asked if they could play it. They informed me they have NFL Sunday Ticket, but can’t change any channels. I pointed out that at least 10 TVs either had nothing on them or something very obscure that no was watching, but was informed that ‘we can’t change one channel without changing them all”. I’m pretty sure that’s not how it works, but I didn’t argue. I went elsewhere and my large group of fans from Barton Hills met me elsewhere.
Sadly - I thought this would be my local go to but I was not treated well and it’s ridiculous that I couldn’t get one of the few NFL games on a TV at 330 especially when they weren’t busy and all th e TVs...
Read moreI live in the neighborhood and couldn’t be more excited about Koko’s Beer Hall opening in the old Baker Street Grill space. They gave it a nice facelift, while also keeping much of the aesthetic, and opened up the back room for lounging while watching a game (pool tables are gone). It can also be used as a separate event space. They’ve put in taller fencing with ivy and misters on the patio. Yay to no smoking now!
So far I have only had the beer cheese, sausage, and veggie plate. It was delicious! Best beer cheese I’ve ever had. I can’t wait to try the griddled reuben, dryrub wings, schnitzel, and brisket & cheese stuffed bacon wrapped jalapeños. The food menu is 🔥🔥🔥.
I do agree with another poster about the tap selection. Definitely not what you would expect in a place that has “beer hall” in their name, though I imagine they only have so much space in the cooler for kegs. Tap systems aren’t cheap either to build and the bar was already set up. Regardless the beverage menu is good. The whiskey frozen tastes like Dr Pepper!
Sure, they got their butts kicked over the weekend, but the staff that I encountered were all awesome! Thank you to Christina, Shaunna, Mark, Blake, and I know I’m forgetting a few…you guys are gonna crush it once y’all get everything ironed out. You can tell management is invested and ready to roll.
Hopefully, they’ll do a happy hour, bring back trivia, and add some live music.
Looking forward to once again making this...
Read moreThey advertised this as a German beer hall with lots of taps including German beers. The sign outside listed the Austin F1 race first, with NFL below. So we went to watch the race at a beer hall - one of my favorite things to do. The place has an amazing TV setup but they had the race on one small TV in the corner above the entrance to the kitchen, with no sound. The manager at first said yeah that’s what you get, then after asking a second time put it on a second small TV in the corner, still no sound because at the time there was loud music that apparently needed to play, and they would be putting on the Cowboys game shortly which of course gets the audio. We stay anyway, to find that they have a grand total of 10-12 beers on tap, only two of which are German, and no other imports. The french fries were fine. The DJ booth at the host stand on the way out sealed the deal for me - this is just another sports bar you could go to anywhere, and I might be back to do that, but not for the beer or atmosphere of a...
