(Beef Sandwiches) • Portabella Mushrooms • Sweet Roasted Red Peppers • Wheat
Lets start with the meals:
Wholly Cheesesteak Batman: Bang, that was a lot of meat and cheese. Everything was point on with this, the meat was tender and the cheese did not overwhelm the mushrooms the peppers. My only issue was the bun, the options where wheat, portabella, and lettuce, I wish there was a nice roll for this. Still a tasty sandwich and would recommend. 4/5
The Almighty Reuben: Loads of meat, a great, bit spicy flavor. Nice sandwich overall, needed slightly more sauerkraut. 4/5
Heavenly double with cheese: wow that was a lot of burger. The beef was great, next time going with a single. The star of the burger was the meat, the bun was just a bun and the mushrooms where lacking. 3/5
Hand breaded onion rings: Disappointed. Lack of flavor. There was a plentiful bounty of the onion rings at first look I was not impressed, they were a dark color, but hey. I love onion rings and gave them a chance. No flavor, the onion did not come through as they where overwhelmed by the breading, I added salt to give them some flavor but in the end was disappointed with each bite. 1/5
Basket of fries: At first, I was excited these fries looked amazing. Most of them were soft and every so often I would get a nice crisp one. I added salt the fries where not terrible but not great. 3/5
Cheesecake: Wow that was great. This and the sandwiches where the highlight of the overall meal. Creamy and soft great flavor. 4/5
Lemon Ginger Kombucha: Nice flavor a bit too sweet but if you water it down a bit it has a nice flavor that comes...
Read moreWe were excited to see from their website that they used food sources from humanely-pasture-raised happy cows. Surprised to know that grass-fed beef has more Omega 3 than fish. I love onion rings so I was anxious to try. I read that the cheese-steaks were the best in town. So I decided on that. My daughter got the American-cheese burger. We had a slight wait but food is made to order so we didn't mind. Tables are few with folding chairs but if the food is good, we'll overlook that. Table had crumbs but I always carry disinfectant wipes. Staff was nice and hospitable. Bathrooms were clean. The place was temperature warm. It was Sat 4pm Aug so it's hot outside and warm inside. Not comfortable but we tolerated. Food arrived. The cheese steak was molten hot. Lots of cheese melted into the meat. It was the best I've had in Austin but that doesn't say much. Onion rings were plentiful. The crust was a little too flour/eggy with lots of pepper for my taste. Was hoping for a more delicate butter-milk/flour crust as the pictures seems to indicate. But they were good and hot. The bite of my daughter's burger tasted yummy. She loved the slightly sweet grill-toasted bun. The meat was delicious but a tiny bit dry so I wondered if the young staff mashed the meat with their flat spatulas. Or it could be the meat has little fat. Healthy but the flavor is in the fat. Sorry health-fanatic Austinites. Will we go again? Probably. I always want to support restaurants that use humanely-raised...
Read moreI just started a new job down south and was looking for a good lunch burger place so I decided to check this place out. I walked in and saw that it was half convenience store and half burger joint. Kind of different but it was nice to be able to get a drink from the store side to go with my meal. Unfortunately, when I picked out a sealed soda in a bottle...it was flat. How does that happen??
They let me pick a new one which was fine and I sat down to wait for my burger. The wait took forever and then I noticed that a group that ordered after me got there food...WTF?
I asked the guy at the counter and he went and checked. My burger was sitting over there getting cold and he rushed back there to put some fries into a basket and bag my order. I now had to take it to go because it had taken so long, I was going to be late to work.
They were apologetic, rightfully, but they seemed very disorganized. Maybe that was because all the employees back there cooking/running the counter were young teenagers.
To top it off, when I finally got back and had to eat lunch at my desk, the burger was missing the grilled jalapenos and mushrooms THAT I PAID EXTRA FOR. The fries seemed like they would have been good if they weren't cold and soggy, which mine were.
Maybe this was just a one time incident, but I'm surprised that they operate this way in such a highly competitive lunch area.
I have to say I was pretty disappointed with this place and will...
