Absolutely Terrible Service – We’ll Never Be Back
We were excited to try this new Mediterranean spot near us, but the experience was a disaster from the moment we walked in. While looking at the menu, we asked the young man behind the counter what chicken options were available for the kabob plates. Instead of being helpful or welcoming, he seemed completely confused, frazzled, and visibly irritated that we didn’t already know what we wanted — even though it was our first time there.
We asked about a plate we saw pictured on the screen behind him that looked like a full meal with hummus and salad, and he gave us a quick answer in the Mediterranean dish name (which we didn’t recognize), then rushed us by asking, “How many?” We said TWO orders of that plate — with chicken, not beef.
After waiting a while, he finally brought out one plate, and it looked like beef. We told him this wasn’t what we ordered, that we asked for two chicken plates. He became noticeably upset, nervous, and uncomfortable. He walked back and forth a few times, then came back and insisted this was what we ordered. We said NO, again — we don’t eat beef, we asked for chicken. He kept trying to get us to “just try” the beef plate — we had to tell him THREE TIMES no, we don’t want it.
I asked if I could speak to a manager, and he said there wasn’t one — then corrected me on the dish name (“it’s called chicken barbecue”) like he was schooling me. I told him again, we’re new here, we don’t know the names — just bring the chicken plates we ordered.
Meanwhile, other tables and takeout orders kept coming out of the kitchen while we waited over 30 minutes. Eventually, ONE chicken plate arrived — which he set in front of my husband. My husband, being polite and starving, gave it to me to start eating first. As time passed, the second plate never came. We watched the kid whistling and cleaning while we continued to wait. I finally asked my husband to check the receipt, and guess what? He’d only charged us for one plate.
We called him over and said, “Seriously? There are two of us sitting here — we ordered TWO meals!” He had the audacity to come to the table and say, “I don’t know if it was your fault or mine,” in a sarcastic tone. 45 minutes in, and my husband still had no food.
This was, hands down, one of the worst customer service experiences we’ve ever had. That young man should NOT be handling orders or dealing with customers — he clearly has no training or interest in hospitality.
No amount of good food is worth dealing with service this bad. There are plenty of Mediterranean restaurants in Austin that actually value their customers. We’re never going back — and we suggest you don’t waste your time or...
Read moreMy first visit to Lazeez. I made an order to go at the counter. The cashier was very polite and offered help when I told him I was first time customer. I ordered a gyro wrap, a side of baba ganoush, a side of fried okra (I have to try it if it’s on the menu), and a slice of baklava. The wait time for my order was very short, but I was there between the lunch and dinner hours. My food was still hot when I got home. Everything tasted great. The pita bread was fresh and light. The baba ganoush was excellent. Very fresh and traditional. The serving of gyro meat on the wrap was generous (my dog appreciated the little bites I gave him). The meat was also chopped in small pieces, which I liked. The tazsiki sauce on the wrap was good and the lettuce and tomato very fresh. There was also a separate sauce that was good. It was thinner and had a very light spicy flavor. I used it to dip my okra in. As full as I was after I ate the wrap and sides, I had to eat the baklava. It was very tasty. Just the right amount of sweetness. I’m so full I hope I don’t fall asleep during the Longhorns football game! Give the Parmer Ln Lazeez a try - you won’t be...
Read moreThis was one of the most frustrating restaurant experiences we’ve had in a long time. We asked about a plate that we clearly asked for chicken—what showed up was beef. We specifically ordered two meals, and only one came. I sat there waiting for the second order that never arrived, only to realize they had only charged us for one—without even confirming anything.
At this point, we were already irritated, but what really crossed the line was the attitude of the kid who took our order. Instead of owning the mistake, he tried to get us to just keep the beef plate and had the nerve to say, “I don’t know if it was my error or yours.” Really? You’re the one who took the order.
We waited 20 minutes just to eat a single meal and the seco d one came long after—something that should’ve been a simple order turned into a test of patience. It’s a shame because the food itself was actually good. But no food is good enough to make up for how we...
