The Milano Cafe exceeds expectations. Surprisingly rich and well prepared dishes for lunch; I haven't been there in the evenings for full table service hours but the daytime experience of ordering at the counter and getting your own (free!) Iced tea works well for this small space and keeping their labor budget (and food prices) manageable.

Not content with basic spaghetti and lasagna, they delve into the veal, piccatas, marsala, and seafood dishes usually reserved for more formal dining. I have a particular love for the tortellini gorgonzola. My general practitioner would take umbrage, a true stamp of excellence.

The owner is a forthright, energetic, and rascally Sicilian who does not wish to be mistaken for Italian. He's wonderfully entertaining when he's not otherwise busy with the business.

If I had to level a criticism -and I have to look hard to find it- is the bread served during the dinner lunches is a thin slice of bread that has been through a panini press that finishes off a bit chewy and not visually unlike a ridged potato chip. Rolls or a chunk of baguette would be welcome. I'd pay an extra couple of dollars for a bread basket to go with the meal.

Dont be put off by the location in an older strip mall next to a quick-shop and a few other pedestrian businesses. It's worth...

I have been going to this restaurant frequently for the past two years for my meetings since always so quiet, great food and service. However the last two times were horrible. On those times I asked for a Latte and the girl asked “are you sure you want to order that because it’s not going to be good” then this last time, the food was NASTY! It was soggy. Felt old. The texture of everything just felt nasty and didn’t taste good. My friend and I have had the same dish in the past and it was way better. We tried to eat it but we couldn’t so we ordered another plate hoping it would be better. I told the waitress that our food wasn’t good and she just said oh I’m sorry. Didn’t offer a different plate to replace for free, or give a discount. The other plate was also not good either. Also, the waitress wasn’t attentive. She wasn’t checking on our table and wasn’t friendly either. It felt like she didn’t even want to work. We tried getting her attention for 15min and she would never even look out way. And there was NO ONE ELSE! Just us. Never going again. I noticed the staff has been different the past two times from the usual team for the past two years so I wonder if the restaurant changed owner. Anyhow, not worth the price,...

These other 5 star reviews must be friends of this restaurant. I’m honest reviewer!! Gordon Ramsay eat here you best just shut down.

Came into the front door. 4 people working. Did not great us 3 people. We ended up seating ourselves by the restrooms. The table was wet, no forks or knives 🍴, all other tables had them. We asked the waitress for some forks & knifes. She was a short girl with dark brown hair short, young girl. immediately gave attitude. We ordered our food and asked the young girl for side of pasta. Took seriously 17 minutes. The waitress blames the cook, always has someone to blame throughout our whole experience here.

Here is the main goal of this review, service straight sucked bad, the food is not good. Chicken Marsala mushy vegetables, sauces taste horrible and chicken was like cardboard. The eggplant baked was soggy. My mother ordered a salad did not even eat it, why is was old, wilted. This place is over priced. I’m admitting I did not want to even tip the waitress a $7.00 dollar tip on a 112.00 dollar bill. Why she was horrible. I will never eat here again. The food is horrible. Olive Garden- is better...

Bathrooms were filthy, that's usually the first sign something is wrong. Sure enough the food wasn't much better. Food took 40 minutes to come out, but I'm okay with waiting if it's good. We ordered one lasagna to share, and the nice waitress brought out 2. I asked if that was one serving, and the waitress said "yes this is one serving". So I figured okay they just split it up for us. Unfortunately when the bill came it was billed as two servings. I went to the front for clarity as to what happened and the lady who runs the place gave me a hard time. It took several minutes of explaining and back and forth to get her to remove it from the bill. She did reluctantly remove it but her attitude was insulting. She insisted "you ate it so you should pay". You can't charge a customer for something they didn't order, and didn't even know they ordered after it arrived, that's called fraud. And the customer service was embarrassing. As for the lasagna itself it was mediocre at best. It was soaked in so much cheese that all I could taste was mozzarella... It had very little flavour. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either.

We were at Milano's for an early evening Valentine's Night but even at 530 with reservations we were far from alone in the crowded restaurant. However, we were waited on promptly by a nice waitress who gave excellent suggestions and when i asked for her help on the mead she demurred to Sammy who steered us perfectly. When i asked where he was from ( like me his accent gave away it wasn't TX) he said Sicily so i asked if he was the owner. Without hesitation he said, "i used to be the owner; then I got married!" My eggplant parmesan was great and my partner's meat (beef) lasagna was also very tasty. Although we had read reviews that said the entrees were small we disagree since we both found them ample for our appetites and the bread was fine (not full of garlic which is the way i like it.) We were way too full for dessert but the case behind us was brimming with delectable treats like red velvet cake, tiramisu, Italian cream cake and many others. Guess who got it to go and loved every bite of the above mentioned? All this goodness, food and service for under $75. We plan on making several return trips!

Was in Austin for business and met up my boy @etiisdope for lunch. This spot is located by his job and if you know Etinosa you know he is very picky. I was intrigued by him saying this spot off rip. We walk up and the owner? is ripping a heater out front reading the paper ✅. We walk in and it’s basically just us, we get our drink order taken by a lady. After we get our drinks the man walks in and talks to the woman. She then grabs her stuff, leaves, and I don’t see her again lol. The owner? I guess then takes care of us the rest of the meal. Really peculiar lol. Chicken Parm 8/10 - flavor was packing never lacking. It wasn’t super insanely hot like it sometimes happens with chicken parm. Really thin chicken piece so sometimes I was just eating the breading that’s somehow Gluten Free. Gotta love Austin lol This is as hole in the wall as it gets but it’s also like built to be a date spot? It’s fine dining where you can hop out and go to Talbots lol. Follow me on IG Eats_By_Puig
