The Milano Cafe exceeds expectations. Surprisingly rich and well prepared dishes for lunch; I haven't been there in the evenings for full table service hours but the daytime experience of ordering at the counter and getting your own (free!) Iced tea works well for this small space and keeping their labor budget (and food prices) manageable.
Not content with basic spaghetti and lasagna, they delve into the veal, piccatas, marsala, and seafood dishes usually reserved for more formal dining. I have a particular love for the tortellini gorgonzola. My general practitioner would take umbrage, a true stamp of excellence.
The owner is a forthright, energetic, and rascally Sicilian who does not wish to be mistaken for Italian. He's wonderfully entertaining when he's not otherwise busy with the business.
If I had to level a criticism -and I have to look hard to find it- is the bread served during the dinner lunches is a thin slice of bread that has been through a panini press that finishes off a bit chewy and not visually unlike a ridged potato chip. Rolls or a chunk of baguette would be welcome. I'd pay an extra couple of dollars for a bread basket to go with the meal.
Dont be put off by the location in an older strip mall next to a quick-shop and a few other pedestrian businesses. It's worth...
Read moreI have been going to this restaurant frequently for the past two years for my meetings since always so quiet, great food and service. However the last two times were horrible. On those times I asked for a Latte and the girl asked “are you sure you want to order that because it’s not going to be good” then this last time, the food was NASTY! It was soggy. Felt old. The texture of everything just felt nasty and didn’t taste good. My friend and I have had the same dish in the past and it was way better. We tried to eat it but we couldn’t so we ordered another plate hoping it would be better. I told the waitress that our food wasn’t good and she just said oh I’m sorry. Didn’t offer a different plate to replace for free, or give a discount. The other plate was also not good either. Also, the waitress wasn’t attentive. She wasn’t checking on our table and wasn’t friendly either. It felt like she didn’t even want to work. We tried getting her attention for 15min and she would never even look out way. And there was NO ONE ELSE! Just us. Never going again. I noticed the staff has been different the past two times from the usual team for the past two years so I wonder if the restaurant changed owner. Anyhow, not worth the price,...
Read moreThese other 5 star reviews must be friends of this restaurant. I’m honest reviewer!! Gordon Ramsay eat here you best just shut down.
Came into the front door. 4 people working. Did not great us 3 people. We ended up seating ourselves by the restrooms. The table was wet, no forks or knives 🍴, all other tables had them. We asked the waitress for some forks & knifes. She was a short girl with dark brown hair short, young girl. immediately gave attitude. We ordered our food and asked the young girl for side of pasta. Took seriously 17 minutes. The waitress blames the cook, always has someone to blame throughout our whole experience here.
Here is the main goal of this review, service straight sucked bad, the food is not good. Chicken Marsala mushy vegetables, sauces taste horrible and chicken was like cardboard. The eggplant baked was soggy. My mother ordered a salad did not even eat it, why is was old, wilted. This place is over priced. I’m admitting I did not want to even tip the waitress a $7.00 dollar tip on a 112.00 dollar bill. Why she was horrible. I will never eat here again. The food is horrible. Olive Garden- is better...
