So it's ok, I got excited when I saw the huge line in the drive thru of this Perry the Platypus themed building! Then I began to read reviews and found out some people are actually saying it's better than InNOut, it was at that moment I knew we had to try it!! So when you first arrive, you will either love the building or hate it!! I thought it was kind of cool... Then you go in and ok it's a burger place. Soo, we ordered 2 #3' Combos w/the extra beef Patty that another review mentioned we should do and got milk shakes as well. $18 not bad the similar order@ InNOut is $28. So then comes the food... They didn't charge me for fries but didn't know so I tried buying fries and they gave them to me. Thanks for being nice, but next time just give me what I ordered! (I hate free fries) to cover up incompetence. So the burgers are the star of the show... So after all this build up I realized 1 thing, P. Terry's is ok. It's truly not the best! They have a cool customer service# you can text and leave feedback but what good is it if their burgers are just ok? The secret sauce is annoying and just meh.. My wife says they should buy my secret sauce. The beef patties were all un- evenly cooked and the flavor was lacking which is odd considering there was grease pouring everywhere. So yes give this Burger a try but no for those delusional folks who are encouraging P. Terry's and telling them they are better than InNOut don't do that because then people believe it. Here is the difference between both... Yes P. Terry's drive thru is full but the inside was empty, @ InNOut both are full all the time with people. So good Burger but you got a long way to go Burger boys... But I say GO TRY THEM!! OVER TIME WHO KNOWS...

P. Terrys made a 33 best burgers in the US list a few years ago. Im not sure why. While shopping at Frys Electronics I saw this location just down the road and returned back to check it out later. I ordered the recommended cheeseburger, fries and milkshake. I've tried a lot of burgers across the US and even worked my way through some best burgers list. While doing this I've had more than 1 burger that just failed to impress and this was one of them. One online site called P. Terry's "Austins Local In-N-Out" and it is.. Farm fresh vegetables, fresh cut fries, locally grown ingredients. I was less than impressed by In-N-Out as well and I can only guess that the appeal of these places is the whole farm fresh, sustainable thing combined with its retro style and low prices. The only thing that did impress me was that the burgers were $2-3. These are prices you usually see at real 1950's survivor restaurants. But flavor wise compared to other burger places this place doesn't make my list of best burgers. It might make my list for best burgers under $3. Overall the food was OK, but non impressive.

Good: It is P. Terry's, still the best burger/fries/shake combo in Austin. Not so good: This location seems to overcook the fries just a tad on a regular basis? Or maybe it was always like this and nostalgia has colored my experience? For many years I would frequent the original burger stand on South Lamar/Barton Springs, and Patrick would occasional stop by the outside tables to say hello and ask how my burger was. The staff knew me and would already know what I was going to order before I spoke. But times change and the rent/traffic/road closures eventually decided that the Domain would be my new hood. Maybe I miss that old camaraderie from P. Terry's #1. Or maybe in fact, this location does have a habit of overcooking their fries.

Updated 21jul2024: still terrible. I tried to give them another chance. Do NOT come here! Firstly, I video'd the entire 8 minutes because I knew it would be memorable. There was only one car in front of me on Saturday dinner-time. I had a plain order: 2 burgers. Nothing special. Easy, right? Yet it took EIGHT minutes! Then, the burgers were like cold cardboard. No flavor no taste, cold greasy fries. The people were civil but not friendly. What happened to service? "Service with a smile!" This was the slogan when we used to have good service. Now? Maybe the workers are discouraged in their situation? GET OVER IT! If you don't wanna flip burgers: GET AN EDUCATION! Stop with your expensive tattoos and useless ridiculous hair dyes! Grow the F up already! And deliver good food with good service!

Well... maybe a year between visits wasn't enough. Maybe next time I'll wait 3-4 years before I go back. Maybe they need new management and/or new ownership. Who knows what it'll take. But me? No, I'll not be back.

My review from 2023: Not fresh! What happened? I used to love this P.Terrys. Today Sat. 545pm I got a burger and a double double. Both were like yesterday's stock. Huh? What happened? The patty was dry and like cardboard. I asked for EVERYTHING on it and there was ONE slice of tomato, ONE leaf of lettuce, zero onions zero pickle zero mustard. HUH?? PTerrys is supposed to be Texan. Everything means EVERYTHING! Wow... Culver's Angus burgers are at Metric and Braker Lane. I'll go there from now on. I don't like Sonic but even nearby Sonic is better than todays PTerrys. ...I'm sad and disappointed... oh well, they earned a good reputation and blew it today. No wonder the place was empty at...

Here I was sitting in an abandoned furniture place parking lot. My loins were stirring and I knew... I knew I was hungry. So, I pull out my trusty cellular device and search for areas which provide food around me. Lo and behold there was an entire section dedicated to the art of the Burger Joint. I was tempted at first to go to shake shack. However, the reviews for this place won me over.

When I first pulled in, I was confused as heck. It shared a parking lot with a medical center and I couldn't find the entrance. But, alas, I did find it and I made my way into the drive thru. The simplistic menu made it easy enough for me to make my order in less than 30 seconds, despite this being my first time

I added grilled jalapeños to my burger and substituted a chocolate shake for my drink. The burger was amazing. The cheese was abundant and the jalapeños were spicy. I sneezed after smelling them. But, I'm not sure if that's just because I had allergies.

Anyways, the fries came in a unique cone type parchment. Very unusual. But, they were actually pretty good and lightly salted so as not to be overpowering.

I could do without the shake however. It was a little too thick for me, but that's a personal preference.

All in all. Double burger with grilled jalapeños and a substituted shake brought me to $8.34

"5/5 best burger we've ever had" -Ign

"unique and organic!" -GameInformer

"Thought provoking and has a lesson to teach humanity abou- Oh... I'm reviewing a burger joint?" -Tommy Wiseau

"There's a hair in my food" -John...
