Patrizi's is the BEST authentic Italian food I've ever had! There isn't anything not to LOVE about this place.
Look for the sign that reads "Vortex", because the Patrizi's sign is a lot smaller and you might miss and drive right by it. Then, you're going to have to pull into the dirt and rock parking lot, and look behind IT to see the fenced and lighted up and gated entrance...of which is like walking into a really totally cool other world that you totally wouldn't expect to find hidden behind a parking lot.
It's filled with garden and picnic tables, with umbrellas. There are plants and a whole lot of stringed lights everywhere. There is mostly outdoor seating, some up on a wooden deck, and some seating inside with air conditioning in the "Butterfly Bar". And, you can catch a play at the Vortex, before or after.
The Patrizi's food truck that you order your food from is to the left of the Vortex that's on the right. Then, the wait staff brings you your food to your table when it's ready. DON'T FORGET TO TIP WELL!
If you have to stand and wait in line, someone will be walking around with samples of their amazing food for you to try, along with menus to help you figure out what you would like to order. And, you can get a drink from the "Butterfly Bar" that's located behind the Vortex while you're waiting in line.
The entire staff are the coolest and friendliest, the atmosphere is totally awesome, and the food that is all natural, home cooked from scratch is amazing. They get their food fresh, smoke their own bacon, make their own cheese and, among other things, they make their own pasta FRESH...which isn't cooked until you order (takes only a few minutes).
I don't like eating out, but I would and plan to eat at Patrizi's over and over, again. It is the best casual dining that you'll ever experience. If you're visiting the Austin area, Patrizi's is a MUST DO! Patrizi's is just...
Read moreFinal Conclusion - Not a bad place but, I will likely not be back due to the cost of the dishes for what they are. If I were to visit again it would only be during non peak times just for the sheer wait time. with 2 small kids that just killed it.

Get there Early - All I can say is make sure to get there early and beat the rush. By 6:30 parking was full and the line was around the building. Most people were waiting probably about an hour or more just to place there order. we arrived at 5:45 and still took 45 minutes to get through the line. Then it was another 40ish minutes to get our food. The Menu - I'm a simple guy so the 6-8 fancy pasta dishes they had I was confused about. We tried 4 different types of pasta with them. The Food - Their pasta is hand made and is good. but man what I wouldn't give for a simple spaghetti and meatballs. Just some tomato sauce with some chopped up vegies and some meatballs. The ala carte meatball we did have had a lot of vegies in it, which was a bit off putting, If I wanted a Veggie Ball I would have ordered one. We did try the Carbonara which was decent, the meat a little fatty but it wasn't flimsy. My favorite was just a simple pasta with red sauce and a bit of goat cheese I believe. We tried 2 others but I did not care for them that much. The environment - It is a food truck with lots of outside seating and decorations around it. lighting was adequate. It was quant with plenty of seating. They do bring your food out to you which is nice, but it took forever to get it. The Price - We are from San Antonio and I understand Austin prices are jacked like California, but $17-$20 bucks for a plate of pasta (even hand made) with no meat on it is a bit...
Read moreAn Italian food truck? Unheard of...but hey, that's Austin for ya, amirite? Patrizi's is pretty frickin' awesome. Upon first glance at their menu you think "hmm, there's not much to this" but the advantage of having a small menu is being able to perfect each dish. I'm still in awe that Patrizi's serves up such authentic Italian food with fresh made pasta! I mean it's just super impressive that they make their own pasta.
The Garlic Bread was unlike any other I've had and I appreciate what Patrizi's was going for with it. It's more fresh tasting as they have whole poached garlic cloves, grana cheese and sprinkled herbs on top of pieces of ciabatta. I have my own personal preferences for garlic bread but Patrizi's version is cool. The Cacio e Pepe was delicious. Add some Patrizi's Honey and Smoked Pancetta (bacon) to it for a little extra umph. Cacio e Pepe is a super simple pasta dish but Patrizi's does it well. We also decided to go on the complete opposite end and try the Patrizi's Red Sauce pasta and of course added a meatball. The Patrizi's Red Sauce was pretty tasty but I wasn't a huge fan of the meatball. I just felt like the meatball was missing a little something and the texture was kind of "meh" to me. I like for my pasta to have a little kick to it so next time I come back I'm definitely trying the Karah's Diavolo.
The staff at Patrizi's is super amazing as well. They're really helpful if you're a newbie and help you pick out the perfect pasta dish geared towards your taste. So many different personalities onboard but that's the beauty...
