I was not aware about this place until my wife and I started noticing individuals in wheel chairs/walkers around our area.
Within the last week I have returned individuals who needed help getting back. I asked them if they needed help getting across the street (it was 90+ degrees outside and sunny), and clearly looked like the man was overheated, and was going to have an extremely hard time going the 1/4-1/2 mile it was going to take to get home.
I asked the man, “are you hot, can I stop and get you a water at our corner store, or anything to refresh you”? He said no, so I asked if I could take him the rest of the way and he was super grateful. He had told me it usually takes him about 2-3 hours to go half a mile back because it is over curbs/gravel/and tons of hills. He only had function in 1 arm to actually move the chair… The man had a helmet on I assume due to having issues in his chair in the past. Some of my best friends are in wheelchairs and I understand the difficulty of operation, more importantly with 1 hand.
I think it is fantastic they are given the freedom to move about, but they need someone there to make sure they are not getting hurt, or stuck in the public with no way home.
Fast forward to arriving at the facility, the people were super slow to get up when I arrived with him, and just stared at me like I had done something wrong. They didn’t open the door, say hello, or help him get back to his room. The staff seemed very unfriendly, and like him and I were being a nuisance.
I asked if I could take him back to his room so I knew he got home safe, and they refused.
The whole return was super eerie, and I still feel uncomfortable about this. These people need supervision to make sure they do not get hurt, or taken advantage of in public.
The community can see what...

Theirs few people that have their minds in tack and some Don’t. (Resident) For the ones that Don’t have it all there upstairs they just have to deal with the consequences and Unprofessional and nursing care. If I didn’t have my own mind in tack then this letter would not be set out. I NEED ANSWERS!!!! (Temp. Read moreI would like to give HP 3.5 stars overall, but haven't figured out how to do it yet, and some of the individual staff members are 4-star.
I visit the Generations unit about four times a week to see a good friend. Many of the same staff members who were at Heritage Park when my friend arrived are still there, which to me is a good sign.
When I am there during meals, there's been a variety of menus, and sufficient quantities so that my friend, who must have a high metabolism, appears to have regained the weight he lost at another place.
I would like to see my friend take advantage of more of the activities that HP offers, and for the residents to have as many opportunities as possible to use the attractive, fenced grounds.
Occasionally in nice weather they play a version of baseball or other outdoor activity. They also sometimes take field trips in their bus, to see the Christmas lights, and things like that.
I think being a dietian for more than a hundred people, each of whom require approximately three meals a day, 7 days a week, 12 months a year, must be one of life's most challenging vocations. Also many people have their own unique set of dietary requirements and daily medications that must be given exactly right. To me it seems a very...
