I've been coming here for like, I don't know, 4 years now. The baristas are SO personable. The shop is full of great people and they're always doing their best to make everyone feel welcome. The people here know their shit and put a lot of care and attention into their coffee and it's some of the best I've had in Austin. The vibes are great, the music's great, and they even have a "Vinyl night" where you can bring your own music. If you're a remote worker like I am they have plenty of plugs and the wifi has been fairly reliable for me. I take calls here all the time. It's also within walking distance of ACC if you're a student.
The place is a bit hidden away, but it's within walking distance of several good shops. The Brewtorium next door is a great place to eat dinner after you've grabbed your coffee and on the opposite side there's a Rock climbing gym named Crux. Blue Genie also will have seasonal art bazaars and is one of my favorite places to find gifts and knicknacks.
In general, Spokesman is one of my favorite places in Austin and I wish more people...
Read moreThis place is so much fun! An inviting place to hang out on a very hot day. The staff is very friendly, have answers for all your questions and provide great recommendations. They have a few sandwich selections and pastries. Typical coffee shop offerings. They also have beer on tap with a happy hour late afternoon. Honestly though I would rather go next door to Brewtorium for beer. For my first drink I ordered the “Golden Child” iced with oat milk and a shot of espresso. Delicious!! This is a multi-level venue. The upstairs has seven, two seater tables and bench seating outlining windows that look into Crux. A great place to enjoy my coffee while watching the kids climb at camp. Downstairs there are four seats at a high counter, four two seater tables with a bench along a wall of frosted windows letting in natural light from Crux. In a corner there are a couple more seats at a high counter. There are a few tables for outdoor seating which are nicely shaded in...
Read moreBest specialty coffee I've found in Austin. Lattes made with their Misty Valley Yirgacheffe have a distinct blueberry flavor. Which is unique and stunning. And the Kenyan Kirinyaga Kimandi is absolutely delicious with an earthy cacao beginning and floral cranberry/hibiscus finish notes. After about 10 days from the roast date the Kimandi seems to change slightly and becomes less chocolatey and less floral and develops a distinct almond flavor. Which is lovely. This flavor peaks around day 14 and then the breathe of this coffee starts to fade.. which is when I'm about done with the bag and making my trip back to Spokesman. I can tell great care and practice has been put into roasting these beans to meet their best potential. And I'm grateful to have such exceptional specialty coffee in...
