First let me say, food is very good, and the staff is awesome, especially Ruby, who has taken care of me a few times now.
A little disappointed in my visit last night. After a long day at work, stopped in for a steak. Service was fast and attentive as usual. Shortly before my steak came out there was a power flicker, and it seemed some systems were down. Bartender informed me that the manager asked to suspend drink service because their system was down, no problem, I totally understand. My steak comes out and a minute later, the bartender comes to me, nervously, and tells me the manager is asking for me to check out. Sure, no problem, systems are down, you’ve got to do it manually on paper receipts, I get it. It happens, I’m not upset. I ask if it’s easier, I can leave collateral, my ID, credit card, and come back in the morning when the system is up. She gets the manager, and he walks over and tells me, no, they need to do the paper receipt, that’s fine, it’s procedure. Then just a few feet away from me, in earshot, he tells this poor woman that they need to leave in 10-15 minutes and she needs to “get my card and get [me] out.” I couldn’t believe it. I had just received my dinner and he told her to get me a to-go box. I had to double check the time, this was about 8:20 on Wednesday, and the posted hours state they close at 9:00. She came back with my receipt and I told her, hey just grab me a box and I’ll take this back to my hotel. I felt terrible for her, and wanted to leave her a nice tip for her trouble, but there was no spot on the paper receipt, and I didn’t have cash. The manager shoved the bartender out in front to deliver all of his inhospitable messages so that he didn’t have to. I have no qualms when it comes to technical difficulties, that’s how I make my living, but to essentially kick out a paying customer who has done nothing but sit and eat two bites of steak because you want to leave early… that’s just bad business.
Long story short. Great staff and food, but to the owners of this restaurant: you need a...

⸻
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Texas Land and Cattle, and I can honestly say it was one of the best steakhouse experiences I’ve had in a long time. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was warm, inviting, and true to the Texas-style charm you’d expect. But what really set this visit apart was the outstanding service I received from my server, Eddie.
Eddie went above and beyond to make sure everything about my meal was perfect. He greeted me with a genuine smile and made me feel welcome right away. His knowledge of the menu was impressive, and he offered excellent recommendations that showed he truly cared about helping me have a great dining experience.
I decided to go with one of the signature steaks, and thanks to Eddie’s suggestion, it was cooked exactly to my liking—juicy, tender, and packed with flavor. The sides were equally delicious, and everything was served promptly and with care. Eddie checked in at just the right times to make sure I had everything I needed without ever feeling rushed or interrupted.
What really stood out was Eddie’s professionalism combined with his friendly personality. He made the whole experience enjoyable, personalizing the service in a way that made me feel more like a guest than just a customer. It’s rare to find a server who balances efficiency and warmth so effortlessly, and Eddie did just that.
The food itself was fantastic, but Eddie’s exceptional service is what truly elevated the experience. It’s the kind of service that makes you want to come back again and again, not just for the steaks, but for the overall atmosphere he helps create.
If you’re looking for a place with great food, a welcoming environment, and top-notch service, Texas Land and Cattle is the place to go. And if you’re lucky enough to have Eddie as your server, you can expect nothing less than an outstanding...
Read moreMy husband and I went in on Valentine's Day since all the other places were all booked up or had a long wait time for a table. When we arrived the hostess just left and then walked around for a bit then came back to greet us. Before she could ask my name she answered a phone call and left again, walked around the restaurant on the phone and then came back. That was weird. I asked her how long the wait was for a table and she said 30 minutes, well we waited 45 minutes for a table. When we were finally seated our waiter came and took our drink and appetizer order. The waiter was great at first but then when our food came out he asked us if we wanted any sauce for our steaks. I told him yes and I asked him for the brand that I wanted and he said okay I'll be back in just a second. Well 10 minutes went by and he never came back around with the sauce and the funny thing is there was one right behind us on the table. My husband and I just looked at each other and laughed. So my husband just got up and got the one that was at the other table. The waiter finally came back around to our area and I told him, I said we already have the sauce and he was confused like he forgot I asked him for it. He said oh you did? Anyway the food was okay but my biggest issue was that I put in a to-go order while we ate our food. The waiter repeated everything that I ordered back to me just to confirm. When we got home two orders of fries that I had ordered we're not in the bag. I probably should have checked the bag before I left the restaurant but I was like okay let's just go it was late and they were about to close and I thought okay everything's probably in the bag so we left. Needless to say my daughter and my son were so upset that they had me bring back fries and they weren't in the bag when we got home. I will not be coming back to this location, actually I think this might be the only location in Austin now since the others are closed permanently....
