A friend and I were craving a juicy steak, we usually would go to Texas Roadhouse for our fixings But due to the time and traffic circumstances, after doing some research on google, we found TLC and decided to give it a try We got there around 5pm and it wasn’t that crowded, so we were seated right away We took a look at the menu and for starters we noticed prices were higher compared to TRH (for comparison) considering weight/size We thought the steak quality would probably be superior based on the price, so we ordered the 16Oz boneless ribeye, medium for me While waiting for the steaks, they brought the bread rolls similar to the ones from TRH, with the difference that the one we got were noticeably reheated since they were not soft at all but somewhat hardened, first red flag Then when they finally brought the steaks, there wasn’t nothing exceptional about them that would justify the price, mine, which I ordered Medium, wasn’t as tender as you would expect a medium rib eye steak would be And the “smothered” mushrooms I ordered as a side were disappointing, specially if you compare them to those of, you guessed it, Texas Roadhouse And yes, Texas Roadhouse may not be the finest steak restaurant, but at least they never disappoint, their rolls are infinitely better, the steaks are better and way more tender, and the experience in general is worth paying for (except for the annoyingly loud birthday antics) But I can definitely assure you I’ve been to Perry's, Carve, Austin Land & Cattle, Fleming's, etc, and Texas Land & Cattle is definitely below the average That said, I don’t think I will come back to this place, since it’s not worth the price for what you get

My husband and I wanted a steak for dinner but didn't want the fancy steak house bill so we went to Texas Land and Cattle.. on my recommendation. In the past, I have always liked this chain restaurant, consistent, priced well, and good service. Apparently that is a thing of the past. I ordered the 6oz filet , cooked medium, with loaded mashed potatoes.... It came out more medium rare. They immediately took the steak back to the kitchen and cooked it to the correct temp. My husband ordered the exact same thing only the 8oz filet, cooked medium, with a baked potatoe. His steak look like a small sirloin.... Not the $30 filet that he ordered.. also, he was served mashed potatoes loaded with sour cream. We talked to the manager and he explained that the reason our steak looked completely different was because my filet came from a happy cow and his came from a sad cow. REALLY????? The only thing good was the beer/wine and the rolls and butter. Our bill came out to $100 .... We will never return to this chain of restaurants and I would recommend you don't done there either. I attached pics of our different steaks... Mine was 2 inches thick while his was 1 inch thick. I feel like quality control wasn't there unfortunately.

This was our first time trying Texas Land & Cattle. Service was great! I had the petite tenderloin & my husband had they chicken fried chicken. My steak was a bit tough, so much so that I had to saw through with the knife a bit. My baked potato was on the smaller side and it was a bit cold. You can tell when it's a fresh potato and this one seemed like it had been sitting in the warmer for a bit. I did not complain despite the server checking on us several times. The broccoli was tender but could have used a garlic butter or more seasoning. My piña colada was ok. My husband loved his chicken fried chicken, his whole plate was well seasoned all around. The happy hour was good for our appetizer as well. The warm bread was delicious. The prices for the larger steaks were a bit higher then similar style restaurants. They do not offer a soup or salad with your meal. There is an upcharge to substitute your sides. The restaurant was very clean.

First let me say, food is very good, and the staff is awesome, especially Ruby, who has taken care of me a few times now.

A little disappointed in my visit last night. After a long day at work, stopped in for a steak. Service was fast and attentive as usual. Shortly before my steak came out there was a power flicker, and it seemed some systems were down. Bartender informed me that the manager asked to suspend drink service because their system was down, no problem, I totally understand. My steak comes out and a minute later, the bartender comes to me, nervously, and tells me the manager is asking for me to check out. Sure, no problem, systems are down, you’ve got to do it manually on paper receipts, I get it. It happens, I’m not upset. I ask if it’s easier, I can leave collateral, my ID, credit card, and come back in the morning when the system is up. She gets the manager, and he walks over and tells me, no, they need to do the paper receipt, that’s fine, it’s procedure. Then just a few feet away from me, in earshot, he tells this poor woman that they need to leave in 10-15 minutes and she needs to “get my card and get [me] out.” I couldn’t believe it. I had just received my dinner and he told her to get me a to-go box. I had to double check the time, this was about 8:20 on Wednesday, and the posted hours state they close at 9:00. She came back with my receipt and I told her, hey just grab me a box and I’ll take this back to my hotel. I felt terrible for her, and wanted to leave her a nice tip for her trouble, but there was no spot on the paper receipt, and I didn’t have cash. The manager shoved the bartender out in front to deliver all of his inhospitable messages so that he didn’t have to. I have no qualms when it comes to technical difficulties, that’s how I make my living, but to essentially kick out a paying customer who has done nothing but sit and eat two bites of steak because you want to leave early… that’s just bad business.

Long story short. Great staff and food, but to the owners of this restaurant: you need a...

Here’s a polished review draft under 500 words that highlights both the restaurant and Eddie’s service:

⸻

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Texas Land and Cattle, and I can honestly say it was one of the best steakhouse experiences I’ve had in a long time. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was warm, inviting, and true to the Texas-style charm you’d expect. But what really set this visit apart was the outstanding service I received from my server, Eddie.

Eddie went above and beyond to make sure everything about my meal was perfect. He greeted me with a genuine smile and made me feel welcome right away. His knowledge of the menu was impressive, and he offered excellent recommendations that showed he truly cared about helping me have a great dining experience.

I decided to go with one of the signature steaks, and thanks to Eddie’s suggestion, it was cooked exactly to my liking—juicy, tender, and packed with flavor. The sides were equally delicious, and everything was served promptly and with care. Eddie checked in at just the right times to make sure I had everything I needed without ever feeling rushed or interrupted.

What really stood out was Eddie’s professionalism combined with his friendly personality. He made the whole experience enjoyable, personalizing the service in a way that made me feel more like a guest than just a customer. It’s rare to find a server who balances efficiency and warmth so effortlessly, and Eddie did just that.

The food itself was fantastic, but Eddie’s exceptional service is what truly elevated the experience. It’s the kind of service that makes you want to come back again and again, not just for the steaks, but for the overall atmosphere he helps create.

If you’re looking for a place with great food, a welcoming environment, and top-notch service, Texas Land and Cattle is the place to go. And if you’re lucky enough to have Eddie as your server, you can expect nothing less than an outstanding...

My husband and I went in on Valentine's Day since all the other places were all booked up or had a long wait time for a table. When we arrived the hostess just left and then walked around for a bit then came back to greet us. Before she could ask my name she answered a phone call and left again, walked around the restaurant on the phone and then came back. That was weird. I asked her how long the wait was for a table and she said 30 minutes, well we waited 45 minutes for a table. When we were finally seated our waiter came and took our drink and appetizer order. The waiter was great at first but then when our food came out he asked us if we wanted any sauce for our steaks. I told him yes and I asked him for the brand that I wanted and he said okay I'll be back in just a second. Well 10 minutes went by and he never came back around with the sauce and the funny thing is there was one right behind us on the table. My husband and I just looked at each other and laughed. So my husband just got up and got the one that was at the other table. The waiter finally came back around to our area and I told him, I said we already have the sauce and he was confused like he forgot I asked him for it. He said oh you did? Anyway the food was okay but my biggest issue was that I put in a to-go order while we ate our food. The waiter repeated everything that I ordered back to me just to confirm. When we got home two orders of fries that I had ordered we're not in the bag. I probably should have checked the bag before I left the restaurant but I was like okay let's just go it was late and they were about to close and I thought okay everything's probably in the bag so we left. Needless to say my daughter and my son were so upset that they had me bring back fries and they weren't in the bag when we got home. I will not be coming back to this location, actually I think this might be the only location in Austin now since the others are closed permanently....
