Hard hard pass for me. The reastraunt is cleanish, the staff will have a language barrier if you are an English speaker. But the reason for the pass is the food just not tasting good. It's really dirty tasting like bad dirty grill or cutting board. I got 4 tacos, I always try the tacos first on their own before adding salsa to judge them fairly, which in this case they did not taste good. It was $8 for three tacos, I only ate half of the first one. I figured maybe it was just the dirty grill caused it even though it was only 9 in the morning. Then I added this red salsa to my second bite... What a mistake. It tastes like straight up dirty nasty dishwater, then you mix that with nasty cutting board flavor on the tacos and it is just a terrible taste. It was a bacon and egg taco, and I tasted neither. The tortillas made here are very thin, I actually prefer the H-E-B brand over these. There's a lot of really good Mexican food in Mexican food trucks that's a lot better in flavor, atmosphere and ease of ordering. Just do yourself a favor and skip this one, I don't care if it's the closest one to your house it's not worth it. MAYBE THEY IMPORT REAL MEXICAN STREET WATER TO GET THAT "AUTHENTIC MEXICAN FLAVOR" THEY HAVE WRITEN DOWN ALL OVER INSIDE. THEY ALSO HAVE ON THEIR WALL THAT THEY DO NOT EVER PROVIDE REFUNDS, IF YOU HAVE A QUESTION ASK B4 YOU ORDER. THAT SIGN ALONE SHOULD HAVE BEEN A STRONG HINT. Update: It's been 8 hours since I've eaten there, and now I'm puking and have...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe spent $66 on 6 people but that was not the issue. The issue was their customer service. They need to go to customer service classes to serve everyone that comes through their doors. The barbacoa didnāt look and takes like barbacoa. My son who has special needs eats everything on his plate but this time he only ate two tacos of the barbacoa, rice and beans and he left the entire meal there. That is a first for him, which leads me to understand the food was not what it should have been. We went there because the reviews suggested a good place that go eat since we are from out of town. Wanted to give dad what he wanted, menudo to eat but we were told they were out. So we settled for barbacoa which was not the best choice. Needless to say, WE will not go back again the next time weāre in town. This was our experience at the Tortilleria Rio Grande #2. Star āļø Rating: NONE FOR...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis place is super underrated and I kinda like it that way. Only the Mexicans in south Austin seem to know about it but they line up at lunch at dinner time. The tacos r fantastic! I recommend the guisado de puerco en chile verde, carne asada and picadillo ones in particular. I've also had the nopal con puerco en chile Colorado, chicken en mole rojo, and deshebrada. They were good but nothing special like the aforementioned imho. Their salsas and chips are also great. The tacos at dinner time r $3.45 and the bags of in house chips r $2. The tacos come w two tortillas and r replete. They also make in house flour tortillas. U can get either corn or flour tortillas by the dozen. They also sell gorditas but that's not my speed so i haven't tried them. My favourite salsas are all of them. I'm native American from el paso btw if that helps u assess my...
