Who doesn't love a large selection of sweet and savory carbs?? Freshly baked and nicely organized, this shop boasts a variety of pastries, pies, coffees, and so much more.
There were some mixed reviews about this place which made me hesitate to stop on it but the real review for me would be my own experience. Today I decided to give this place a try and see what its about and I am very happy I did so.
As mentioned before, there are samples next to the item that is for sell and you can try before you buy! Some items I tried I loved - others not so much and that is ONLY due to personal taste and NOT from quality. The quality is great and the prices match what you pay for. There is so much to choose from I had a hard time deciding what to purchase - but that is just fine as I know I will be returning back.
They do have a nice fresh coffee selection, bake cakes, a beautiful bakery case and counters aligned with many delectable treats. Everything is fresh and the aroma fills your nostrils with comfort and delight.
Even though they were quite busy today, the entire staff was attentive, answering questions, and very pleasant. Everyone walked around with a smile on their face!
Definitely recommended to those who like bakeries and to those who don't - because this place will make...
Read moreWhen I recently came across this Korean & French fusion style bakery named "Tous Les Jours" in Austin, I felt somewhat nostalgic for my home country where I grew up. As I haven't been living in South Korea for a long time, I have had less chance to eat this kinds of bread & pastry. All the cakes & pastries they offer were really fluffy, soft, and so sweet that they were quickly melted away in my mouth as soon as I bit it off. Red bean doughnuts esepically reminded me of Korean PatBingSu"팥빙수"(adzuki-bean ice dessert) which I used to eat a lot in the scorching summer. PatBingSu is still popular in the summer in South Korea.
I read about the news on the Internet, which in February, 2016, South Korea won gold at the Bakery World Cup, a bakery contest for artisan bread bakers in Paris. I think they are not only good at cooking but also good at baking.
I travelled over forty countries ( most European countries), almost over hundred cities and always tasted their coffees and pastries. So I know better how tasty good bread & pastry should be. I am definitely sure that whoever comes to this bakery, you will love...
Read moreTwo words-- FREE SAMPLES. This Tous Les Jours is the only one I've seen that is not attached to an HMart, but its quality is no worse for it. The selection here is fantastic and the store is beautiful, with an island featuring pastries and breads both wrapped and unwrapped, surrounded by shelves containing more individual breads as well as loaves and cakes. You'll find both traditional Asian (sweet potato, mung bean, sesame, kimchi, hot dog) as well as other (mocha, chocolate, berries) fillings in their items. And there are usually at least 10 items with free samples set out! There is some limited seating for those who want to eat pastries on site instead of cobbling together a (no shame) breakfast from samples. TLJ reminds me of a Chinese bakery, with two big differences-- TLJ is often considerably pricier but they excel in laminated doughs. Their water roux based items are decent, but I highly recommend their croissants and puff pastries. For water roux breads, look for things filled with cream....
