Olympic Restaurant — Restaurant in Avon Park

I visited this establishment Friday Fed. 25, 2022. I will not be going back and I will discourage as many people as I can to not go there. The hostess, the lady that had on black pants and red or pink shirt, is not welcoming to all race beside her own. I was doing a pick up and she took her time to assist me, and she was available to do so because when a white woman came in behind me she acknowledged her right away. It took everything in me to control my anger, mind you I was standing there a good 10 minutes prior. I would advise the owner to take a look into this because she is position there to give a first impression, and she failed miserably zero customer service skills. This seems to be a fairly busy place, and that type of attitude should not be allowed. The other employees I came into contact with treated me with respect, and that’s what honestly calm me down and I was thankful for that. The food not to happy about, the wing only had sauce on 3 of them, the salad was soggy not crispy at all. The only thing I was happy with was the mash potatoes and gravy. I stood there and saw the waiter bring the food out to people and it really look good, so I don’t know what was the deal on my food, $34 wasted. But again I will not be returning due to that first impression, nobody is better than the other and everyone should be...

Very bad experience today. Our first time and last time here. After waiting 15 min to even place our order it then took 50 min for our food to arrive. At about the 40 min mark of waiting we went and found and spoke to the owner who at the time had been at the bar watching soccer to let him know that a table that got seated 10 min after us had already gotten their food and the length of time we had been waiting and all he said was that he would check on it. He never came to the table to apologize or follow up. Two of the entrees (burger and chicken sandwich) came out first of which both of the meats were cold and the buns were hard as rocks… the server then took the burger back not to be remade but to have the bun switched out. Then after 7 minutes after the sandwich’s had come the two other entrees of “2” grilled chicken breasts came to the table. Still missing the side of coleslaw which came out 5 min afterwards. The “2” chicken breasts which we were told is what we were waiting on were horrible no flavoring at all…. Beware when they say it’s 2 chicken breasts because all they do is split your one chicken breast in half and tell you it’s two. So if you order the half order which is one chicken breast your only getting half of a chicken breast. Save your money and go...

This was our first visit and because of the food it will not be our last.

Greek salad- Crisp fresh lettuce, juicy red tomato, cucumber, onions, bell pepper, loaded with feta and Kalamata olives, great amount of tasty potato salad, the homemade dressing was so delicious it should be bottled and sold. Anchovies were ordered on the side, husband said they were tasty.

Gyro & Fries- Fries are just fries... the pita was warm, soft with a little crisp. The lamb was shaved and had great flavor, topped with lettuce, tomato, onion and tizicki sauce. No feta though...but still yummy.

We ordered both meals to split, plenty of food and reasonably priced for the amount of food. Definitely suggest splitting to not miss out.

Drinks- We just ordered soda, but I do believe they had a wine listing.

Atmosphere- is pretty cool, decorated modern Ish. Music playing was country.

Cleanliness- The dining area and tables were clean. We didn’t use the restroom so no review for that.

Service- Our hostess was kind, but our server (Diana) seemed a bit annoyed with our questions (remember this is our first visit) and the answers was delivered by a very condescending tone. But other than that it was fine received our condiments and drinks promptly and our order came...
