At first when entering the restaurant, It's most definitely a cozy little hole in the wall. Compact tables, great decorations on the wall, friendly staff, definitely inviting! After looking over the busy order menu, everything appeared most appetizing to read with descriptions and everything. Few photos on the menu, which is usually a good sign. They even had Daily specials on the wall electronically, I was truly excited to taste the meals they offered.
I started by ordering a 'Soup of the day' (Cheddar & Broccoli soup), Mac N' Cheese in a bowl, and simple Roast Beef Sandwich.
The Mac N' cheese: Imagine taking a standard size cup of coffee, and just lining the bottom of the cup, less than half an inch, with Mac N' Cheese. The cheese was a nice buttery crunch consistency. Nothing more to enjoy since the 'bowl' consisted of two and a half spoon fulls of its contents which was a little disappointing to start off with. however, there must be more to the rest of the meal right?
The soup: The soup had such a thin puree consistency, You honestly could have never figured there was any broccoli with a lame and flavorless cheese flavor. it was twice the size of the Mac N' Cheese, so just as disappointing. Most definitely just left me want no more then what i already had, and dreaded what was to come of the sandwich.
The sandwich (and honestly the biggest disappointment of all): Imagine taking three slices of toasted bread with a ratio of 2/3 Quarter of an inch cut Tomato, and mostly lettuce, on one section of the sandwich, with the remaining hint of the sandwich, with barely a hint of mayo, and less than four thinly sliced pieces of roast beef.
After taking the sandwich apart, the dish was mostly covered with what would've been the best Salad i have ever seen, and an embarrassment of one would call a roast beef sandwich made by someone who CLEARLY does not know how to make a sandwich.
All in all, I plan on giving this little cozy spot another chance another day, since we all have our off days and who knows? maybe they were training someone new that just didn't know how to cook the basic's?
however, their fried Okra was Awesome, so maybe i'll give their fried menu a chance instead of...
Read moreI am visiting Avon Park. I visit often. Finding a quality restaurant is not easy and most don’t last long. I don’t like leaving a negative post, but it needs to be said. All the other posts that said this place is great must be used to mediocre food. This place is average at best. I ordered a bacon and cheese omelette with hash browns. The egg was a little over cooked. The bacon in the omelet were in halves or 3rds of a film piece of bacon. Hard to cut through with a fork and basically came out of the omelet. So much for the bacon flavor adding to the omelet. The hashbrowns had an onion flavor to them. However I did not see any onions in them. I asked for ketchup and they gave me a 3lb bottle of ketchup. Ask for a smaller bottle and thats all they have. It seems most of their clientele is ederiy. So a heavy bottle of ketchup doesn’t make sense. Lastly the staff was so so. As soon as I walked in the door I was asked to donate to a local school to help buy books. Um ok. I can I eat? When I paid the bill two waitresses were joking and laughing and making me wait. The one said the total of my bill and I gave her cash. She handed my my charge she said nothing. Never made eye contact. I wait and then said thank you. Then she told me to have a nice day. Also I agree the cleanliness is questionable. While I was writing this review I see my server came outside and sat on a bench by the front door to smoke a cigarette. Yeah thanks, but...
Read moreWorse service ever! The worse we have ever been treated in this county. We loved coming over here for breakfast. Was one of our favorite spots. Will not be back. Our order was over looked ,which I get happens, but 35 minutes later we were told about it said be right out. Ok. Well came to us cold. Hash browns chewy and omelette and pancakes cold. Only once did a waitress come over for coffee refil but I didn't need one since we just asked for one and got it. Said she be back. Asked for hot sauce. Never came. My husband had to go get it for us. Asked for more coffee never got it. Husband went to pay the bill was asked how was it. He let them know and was argued with. We just wanted to leave. We spent over an hour there. People came in after us got there food and left by the time we got our food. They paid more attention to the large group that came in after us. We had ordered before they even got there but food came out about the same time. We will not be going back. There are other choices in...
