Isla Coffee — Restaurant in Avon

Overall good experience, we tried another coffee shop beforehand and we did like this one better. Prices are Fair and it's close to our rental. The iced coffees are great, however, we noticed a difference in quality of the drinks with the different baristas. The blonde woman behind the counter is super bubbly and made great coffees. We looked forward to seeing her with each visit. She offered extras and asked a lot of questions, however the brunette woman, Reayln, was just bad. No personality, her expression while i was ordering looked like i was inconveniencing her, and the service she provided was lazy. I ordered an espresso shot and rather then pouring a new one for a new order from the machine, she gave me one that had been sitting so it was lukewarm and tasted overly bitter. How lazy can you get. If you don't want a job where you actually have to put in any effort, try checking people in a community pool and sit on your phone all day. Didn't greet us when we came in or say "what can I get you?" Just walked up to the register in silence. Really wanted to...

We were in town from Denver, Colorado, to spend some time with family, and hit a few of the coffee shops in Avon over the course of our 5 days on the island.

Katie was super friendly and knowledgeable, and made us the best drinks we had during our time here. We both had espresso drinks (one oatmilk latte and one cappuccino), and she did a great job with the shots, the milk, and the drink construction. Looking forward to trying the natural Honduras whole bean from Blue Room Roasters I bought to bring home.

The shop is clean, bright, and cozy (on our cool and rainy day), and they offer well-curated local coffees and other items for sale. Definitely recommend Isla for your coffee while in Avon.

During our OBX beach trip, we stayed across the street from this coffee shop (off Wahoo Circle). We tried Isla the first day...fantastic! The Brown Sugar Cinnamon latte is so delicious 😋 We also tried a few other coffee shops off 12 (Muffins & Scones, Uglie Mugs, and Dancing Turtle), but none of them compared, honestly. Lattes (or any drink with espresso) will take a bit longer to make since there is only one machine available. The front porch is excellent to chill on while you wait! Next time, I'll buy the hot sauce for sale! I'm regretting not...
