We called an order in @1:30pm, arrived about ten minutes later and when I walked in I was told "it's cooking now."
There was a customer at the counter ordering when I walked in and she was served her order before me. Didn't make sense when I heard her ordering as I walked in, but ok.
I watched a total of five groups get served before me, and I get it...they could've ordered before I did. But being that I had somewhere to be, I asked if I could go ahead and pay...only to be told they were about to start my order and it would be about ten to fifteen more minutes. By this time, it was 1:55.
There were only two tables when I first walked in...one of which had their food already. She scoffed at me that they're only a tiny dinner...which has zero to do with the fact she lied and said my order was cooking when I walked in. It doesn't make sense that two people were cooking and it would take 40+ minutes to cook two burgers and an order of fries when that's all you are, a burger and sandwich shop.
It would have been helpful if she hadn't hung up prematurely, because we attempted to ask how long it would take just to be hung up on.
Watching this lady have conversations with these customers showed that she was very familiar with them. Which is nice for a tiny, local establishment. But treating a non local as an outsider is exactly why I'll never, ever come back.
I've been here before twice. The first time I waited the longest time, but then my friend showed up to meet me and THEN I was suddenly treated normally. The second time I was stared at and served last. I'm not your typical country white girl. I'm half Asian and covered in tattoos. But my money spends the same and I love a good burger like anyone else. My boss even hesitated because the service has been horrible for him in the past too. We had to leave because of the time constraint, but neither of us will ever go back...
Read moreI'm a local but rarely go to Ned's; they're pricey and I found the past employees' attitude a bit lacking. My boyfriend lives in Conway and wanted to try it, so we went Monday evening. The employee, a dark haired woman, was on her phone at the counter and didn't get off it when we walked up. She finally looked up, didn't say anything and got her order pad. In the middle of giving our order, she typed on her phone. My boyfriend is very friendly and wanted to chat about the history of the place and she was very abrupt. The gentleman at the grill was pleasant, however. Food was great, I'll give them that. The dark haired woman brought our food and walked away without a word, we asked for mayonnaise and mustard. She brought back one packet of mayo and two mustard. There were three of us. My daughter went to the counter and asked for more and I heard the woman arguing with her. "Well, how much do you want?!" When my daughter said, three please, the woman virtually yelled, "Three?!" We ordered 30 dollars worth of food, Jesus Christ, just give us a packet of mayo.
People like that give us a bad name. Southerners are hospitable, and I'm proud to be from this town, but I'm...
Read moreThis is actually the second time I've been here and it was just as good as the first. This restaurant is off the beaten path in "downtown" Aynor, SC. There really isn't much of a town or downtown, by Northern standards. It is mostly locals who frequent this hidden gem. It is a simple exterior, easy to miss with a small sign. Inside is simple and plain with its painted plywood ceiling. But the burger is far from plain. This is home to the Ned burger which is about a half pound of a delicious heart attack. If you are brave enough, you can order the double Ned burger which is about a pound of meat! I barely made it through a regular Ned burger and I passed on the fries and other sides. Not to out done, there is a triple Ned burger! There are some pictures on the wall of people who were able to survive that mountain of food. Don't know if they went straight to the hospital. The burger is not only huge, it is delicious. Quality tasting juicy hand slapped beef patty. Those who also ordered sides said the French fries and onion rings were perfectly prepared. If you are ever in the Aynor area, disregard the plain Jane wrapper and dive in fir...
