The appearance of the exterior from streetview almost discouraged me from coming. The building looks like a grungy old strip mall in an iffy neighborhood. But I'm really glad that wasn't enough to keep me away. The food was great and the owner (I think) was extremely friendly and nice. We really felt welcomed.
My mother judges any Mediterranean restaurant by their hummus, so we started off with that. She prefers a very smooth hummus with a decent amount of tahini, and she was extremely pleased. The others liked it a lot as well.
All the other food was very good as well. I will mention specifically that the harira soup was quite tasty and warming (though be aware that it does have cilantro if you dislike that). The meat was really juicy. And I do not normally like baba ghanouj because it to fairly bitter and too smokey, but this one was not bitter at all and only slightly smokey.
Another reviewer mentioned getting free Moroccan tea. I don't know that reviewer's circumstances, but the mint tea is listed with a price on the menu, and we had to pay for it, so don't go in expecting free tea. Also, if you prefer plain tea, be aware that this one is sweet.
The prices are pretty reasonable, especially compared to many other restaurants in Arlington. They are comparable with my local middle eastern restaurant back home in Texas. The next time I am in the area I will definitely keep...
Read moreFound this gem after a trip to the national zoo and a bunch of recommendations on Reddit. Went in with high expectations and was not disappointed. The food was fantastic and fresh and made to order! So delicious and such generous proportions. We got the chicken shawarma platter, a tagine with lamb and beef meatballs and a small chicken bastilla. All that plus a small pot of tea set us back about $60 and we had leftovers for dinner, definitely affordable. Coming back to the food, the chicken bastilla was delicious with spiced chicken mixed in with nuts and raisins served in a pastry casing dusted with sugar and cinnamon, it’s a unique dish that I’m sure you will love. The tagine was delicious and served with the softest pillow like Moroccan bread, my favorite part of the meal. Overall, we will be back and I’d just like to mention the service and hospitality, our server was very courteous and the owner made it a point to go around the restaurant making everyone’s experience even more pleasant. They are halal and since it’s Ramadan I noticed a lot of customers coming by to buy food to break their fast for the day, highly frequented by locals and people who know what good Moroccan food tastes like, another stamp of...
Read moreLanded here on a Friday evening and it was so worth it. It wasn’t crowded but soon customers started filling in. At the outset, the Moroccan mint tea was so refreshing. Then, for appetisers, I tried the Sfeha-Bi-Lahmi and it tasted like little pockets of heaven — the meat inside the dough was tender and was served with hummus and salad and a side dip. Then, we got the chicken tagine with lemon and olives and the lamb couscous. Both were amazing — the lamb was so flavourful and piled onto a bed of couscous with steamed veggies and chickpeas. The chicken tagine was good with the generous serving of olives and french fries with moroccan bread. The server/owner probably figured out that it was our first time and was super kind and great to talk to. Honestly, I think, more than the food, some people just leave a mark with how they behave with kindness and love and that elevates the whole experience of dining. For me, this was that. :) All in all, loved the food, the service, and the warm homely atmosphere. 10/10 would go again. Also, the desserts!! I’m pretty sure I didn’t catch the name of what we ordered but man,...
