I was overall satisfied with my experience at this hotel since the basics were fulfilled, just left with a sour taste in my mouth. The room was ready on time, and it was clean. I did not have any issues with cobwebs like my last time in this area. I liked the fact that they had a gym, there were just a few things that needed work. For 1, the elevators: The button to my floor did not work, and I had to go into a couple of different elevators in order to get it to work. This means I had to take a ride up and down with strangers which is not exactly my idea of a vacation. Secondly, the Gym: I just want to go in there, work out, and leave. I had to use 3 machines before finally getting on a piece of equipment that did not require me to sign up for some nonsense with my email. I do not jump on a cardio machine with the intent of putting in my email. I am not at the gym to be social, compare results, or join some newsletter. I am there to get the worst part of my day over with as quickly as possible. If they can maybe not require so much extra nonsense in order to use some of the equipment, it would be greatly appreciated. Thirdly, the parking. I am not going to go too crazy on their ridiculous parking prices because that is my fault for not doing more research and realizing I could have just parked in a local lot for half the price. When leaving, we were given a ticket and told that we already paid for our parking and not to pay when leaving. When exiting, there was a line of cars that was not really moving. Each guest had to call support and verify who they were because none of the keys/tickets were scanning. When it was our turn, of course they tried charging us again. We, just like everyone else, had to call support and they were not helpful. I gave them my name and spelled it multiple times, and the staff decided to get mouthy and tell me it is my responsibility to keep track of payment when I literally paid before and followed the directions I was given. I had to be mean and say that I will just put the car in park and let this line keep honking if you want to continue this nonsense because I do not have time. Then, they magically found my name and lifted the gate. If you get one person calling support, maybe it is the person. When you have everyone calling, cars turning around and honking, then it is your system that is just not working. I know I discussed more of the negatives than the positives, but that is because there is not too much to say about the upsides of this experience. The room was ready, clean, and available when we needed. This type of thing should go without saying, but they got that right and the last hotel I stayed in did NOT. These extra things could use some work so if you are staying here, make sure they do not gouge you for parking, be prepared to be asked to fill in your personal information before even using the workout equipment, and make sure the button to your floor works. Just some advice, the parking thing really is a bigger deal than you realize because it is the last thing your guests experience before leaving. Because of this, I left annoyed and with time wasted. I am still leaving a fair review, but be warned that this is likely something you will want to fix. Like I said, it may not be the individual if one person after the other is...
Read moreI was in town for my mom's funeral and the experience at this hotel made things so much worse than they already were. I booked through the hotel's website a few days prior to arrival. My trip was delayed a few hours so I called to let the front desk to let them know I'd be arriving after midnight and asked that they hold the reservation. Didn't seem like a problem.
When I got there, they had some trouble finding my reservation and another person was called over to help. They confirmed that I wanted one king bed and had me run my credit card. It came up as declined, which was surprising because there was more than enough to cover any charges. I checked my credit card app and showed that there was a pending charge from this hotel. They couldn't find it anywhere in their system but had me run it once more and it went through.
At that point I was given keys and sent on my way. Went down to the garage to get luggage, walked back through the lobby, right in front of the front desk people who could have stopped me there, and went up to my room on the 14th floor only to find the keys don't work.
Went back down to the lobby where I'm told my card was declined. Again, I explain there's a pending charge on my credit card from them (for over what I was quoted, but no big deal there.) I showed him my phone screen that said "Westin Hotel" pending charge. He says he can't find a record of it and demanded another payment. At that point, I just needed some sleep before the funeral so I gave him my debit card and hoped we could resolve things before checkout.
Finally get up to the room again, and found that it was two queens, after he'd confirmed I wanted a king. Which isn't a huge deal, but with everything else, it was frustrating. But I needed some sleep before the funeral so I just went with it.
Tried to get this straightened out at checkout but no one could find a record of the pending charge on my credit card. They seemed to think I was complaining about extra charges, which I was not.
When I booked the room I was quoted about $500. the actual charges were $800 and they had charged that amount to two separate cards, so now my $500 room has $1600 tied up. I was told it might come off in 20 days, even though they still couldn't find it in their system. This is crazy and I don't have enough in my budget for this.
I asked if maybe they had a whole other reservation for me in there system. That was it, someone, not me, had booked and charged me for two reservations. All I did was book the room and check in, I never changed or canceled my reservation.
Of course no one can do anything about any of this, too bad for me and now I have another thing on my plate, too figure out how to remove the charge from one of my accounts.
I thought this looked like a decent hotel but this has been a huge hassle. The room was fine besides not being what I wanted. Nice shower. Completely unhelpful and...
