Carousel Drive In — Restaurant in Bakersfield

I've stopped by here for years. They have crushed ice and Pepsis and, of course, other drinks but you can't find the Pepsi line of drinks at most fast food places and I don't know of any, other than Sonic, that have crushed ice.

Plus the drinks at these small old-time drive-ins aren't watered down like they are at the large fast food chain places.

Carousel drive-in is the typical old time drive-in and they offer the same line of food and drinks one expects to find there.

They have a drive-thru, an outside walk up window, and an inside walk up counter with a small amount of seating. They keep rather short hours and they aren't open in the later evening, they don't open until mid morning, and they aren't open on Sundays.

These small, family owned, drive-ins are disappearing and I hate to see them squeezed out by the bigger chains, so I will continue to enjoy this place as...

Update* The last couple of times we went, service has been decent and the food was great. Customer service can improve a little. But over all recommend for good burger and fries. *

I really wanted to 5 star this place! We just started coming here a few months ago and it was some of the best food (burgers, fries, corn dogs etc). Idk what happened this past month, but the service has gone downhill. "is that it" over and over from the drive thru lady each thing we get, even though it's only us at the restaurant. Lol. And the food was just mid-bleh. I really hope its just a fluke, will try one more time in hopes I can change this review...

Food was not great, I don’t know what these reviewers are smoking but this food was not great.

The burger was drenched in thousand island sauce so it was like a soup and the bun was wet. The burger patties are obviously frozen and you can taste it, no seasoning whatsoever. The fries are doused in oil and no seasoning, overcooked. The atmosphere is… well exactly what you would expect, swamp cooler, humid, old seats and tables. The lady taking the order looked so depressed to worked there and was rude.

Price: for $15 the food should be way better...
