I GOT FOOD POISONING, PLEASE BE CAREFUL!!!!

I've always enjoyed eating here for close to a year now, my favorite being chicken with fried plantains. It came with two sauces on the side. Never had a problem, were always generous with their portions, so a really great experience overall.

But lately, the last three times I've had it, their tomato based salsa has tasted really off.

The first time, it had no flavor and it felt almost carbonated??? Like I was eating a soda, because my mouth tingled like little bubbles on my tongue as I ate. I thought to myself that maybe it's just me, so I didn't say much.

Second time, again no flavor, and also carbonated. I told my family, and they said not to add it to my food, so I did just that. Disappointing, since their salsa was always so tasty.

Now the third time, I should've known something was off. Had it last Thursday and the taste was horrible; no carbonated feel to it, but you could tell it really old. Once again, I'm left disappointed. Didn't touch it after that

Lo and behold, next day, THE FIRST SYMPTOMS OF FOOD POISONING HIT ME LIKE A FREIGHT TRAIN.

Nausea, chills, upset stomach, stomach cramps, diarrhea, just the classic symptoms of food poisoning. A whole week later, I'm still dealing with it now.

The food is neither fresh, nor authentic. I’m surprised they’re still in business, because the owners and staff are not trained to properly manage a restaurant. During the Covid-19 pandemic, they remained open, despite the ordinances to close. There is plenty of illegal activity going on there on the weekends. I spoke up about their shady practices, and the owner, Ivan, threatened me with retaliation. I was the assistant manager of a Mexican restaurant for 9 years, and I can guarantee that this business should not have a passing grade with the health department. I constantly see the customers going in and out of the kitchen, without following proper sanitary guidelines. I am sure that this review will make the owner threaten me and my family again, but I will not allow anyone to bully me into removing my one-star review.
