I ordered 28 tamales yesterday so I could take them to a hospital and eat there with the rest of my family and our uncle who is recovering. When I picked up the 28 tamales, I asked the cashier if I could get some plates and forks as I was going to a hospital not my home. (I have bought dozens and dozens of tamales, but it was always to take them home). Anyway, she hands me 4 paper plates and I said I need about 15. She asked her manager and after pointing at me and being rude about it I got 15 paper plates and 15 forks. Then I bought 2 big champurrados which came in a big cup. I asked for 4 small cups to share them with my family and the rude manager says charge her $2 for all the extra cups, forks and 4 cups. I was shocked at that point after tipping the cashier $4 just for handling me the tamales when I got there. I told them if I had bought the tamales 1 by 1 I would’ve gotten way more paper plates and forks, so why are you being so rude about it? They of course, had nothing to say. I paid $2.17 because they even charged me taxes for the plates, forks and 4 cups. Like I said I have bought tamales from there too many times that I’ve lost count, but yesterday was the last time I ever set foot in that place. Your good food with that heartless costumer service...

They also have a daily special, and on Tuesday, it was a nice order of Taquitos choice of chicken or beef, and I am a true carnivore ,so beef it is! And They Did Not Disappoint 3 per order topped with shredded lettuce Mexican cheese piled high and Salsa to Compliment the Order. This could be a meal in itself and for $4.95, definitely a bargain. Now my Main Course, if you Will the Menudo was lacking a little spiceyness and Flavor ,the traditional fresh condiments were offered to complement the bowl and on the Plus Side Homemade Tortillas were given(3) at no Extra Charge and Were Hot and Delicious. Very Clean Restaurant and the AC was at a Nice 76° if I had to guess, and it was 110° the day I visited. i was very appreciative! With plenty of parking ...i Will Be Back and Grandma's Restaurant is worthy of one of "Bakos Best" 4 out of 5 stars 🌟 across the Board. Yummy...
Read moreThe food is ok, in my opinion, Grandma's Tamales food on California Ave. has more flavor and soul. Also, the customer service at the California Ave. location is more friendly and welcoming compared to this location. The cashier is not very customer service oriented, both times we've been there, it feels like we are bothering her when ordering and fidgets her fingers in a "hurry up ordering " way. The food is dry (meats) and the flavor is not fresh, tastes refrigerated or like is being sitting down for a while. A few years ago when I first tried this location I didn't liked it for the same reasons, I gave it a second chance twice, and realized is still the same. I've been cooking Mexican food since I was 7, so I can say that when I go out to eat the same food I cook at home, so I don't have to cook that day, I'm looking not only for good flavor, but a good experience and good treatment. At least, if the food is not that good, the customer service and environment makes up somehow for it, but this location does not have either. Again, is my...
