I usually like this place. The sushi is great. However, the service experience yesterday was not professional. Given that it was new year's day, they may not have had enough servers, but more than that the treatment and how they deal with issues is what counts. First off it took quite a while to take a drink order. Once that was done, we were noted that our server's shift is over. It took a bit to take the food order that our table of seven was getting antsy by that time. The miso soup was luke warm. The green tea was room temperature. When noted, they fixed the green tea immediately. We ordered quite a few rolls, but two of which were for specific individuals; there rest to share. A good server would have noted that because it was spoken as such. One of our guests sat there for many minutes since his rolls came so much later while everyone was eating. Worst of it all is here: A LONG STRAND OF HAIR CAME ROLLED IN THE SUSHI. We did not make a big deal out of it, but wanted to let the server know about it. She looked at the hair and told us that it is a lady's hair especially looking at mine. The hair was black and mine is not. None of their chefs preparing the food wear hair nets and they have long-haired servers male and female. I explained to her that we are not making a big deal out of it and still ate the sushi, but she needs to let the kitchen know. She never even took the strand of hair that was placed on the napkin to discuss it with the manager or the back. A proper server would have her manager sent over and discuss the situation with the customer. The manager never knew about the issues nor the kitchen. They received a 10% tip (despite of my table asking to make it 0%). We'll think twice being...
Read moreCame for my mom's birthday and we normally go to the Shoyu off of Mount Vernon. Service started off great, and got our drinks and food relatively quickly.
However; my mom is particular about sauces on her rolls so asked for her 2 rolls to have the sauce on the side. When our food came out, one of her rolls was incorrect but said she was willing to try something new, the other covered in sauce. She didn't complain and offered it to my partner and I. The roll without sauce ended up being too spicy for her so she didn't finish it and instead just opted for an order of shrimp tempura. When our waiter came back out, I asked my mom if she wanted to order the salmon collar and share it so she could eat more than just shrimp tempura and some edamame.
When we ordered our waiter proceeds to say "I'm surprised you are still eating, you ate a lot of food." I immediately corrected him about the errors HE MADE and why we were ordering another dish. I was absolutely shocked and appalled, he made a comment about what he perceived she had ate when in reality she maybe took only 5 bites of food the entire day.
The other waitresses who helped us during the night were nice and attentive and the only reason for not a...
Read moreFrom the moment we stepped into Shoyu Sushi, the experience was nothing short of exceptional. The ambiance of the restaurant provided a perfect setting for an unforgettable dining experience. The highlight of our meal was, without a doubt, the Spicy Tuna Roll. Each bite was a perfect balance of flavor and spice, with the freshness of the tuna shining through beautifully. The rice was seasoned to perfection, and the roll was expertly crafted.
In addition to the sushi, we also tried the Chicken Fried Rice. It was a delightful surprise – the rice was flawlessly cooked, and the chicken was tender and flavorful. The dish had just the right amount of seasoning, and the portion size was generous.
The service at Shoyu Sushi deserves a special mention. The staff was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. They made great recommendations and ensured our dining experience was smooth and enjoyable.
Overall, Shoyu Sushi exceeded our expectations in every way. It's a must-visit for anyone who appreciates high-quality sushi and excellent service. We're already planning...
