Food was ok but the service was TERRIBLE!!!!! We visited Kan Pai tonight for the first time. After ordering 3 rolls, a Diner plate, several appetizers and desert, we waited over 20mins and never saw our waitress again... when someone else came to fill up our water, I asked where our rolls were?? As the table next to us, was seated well after us, ordered well after us and had already received their 3 rolls and were mid way through their meal.... The bus boy said he would check. Again no one came by... 5 mins later he brought us 1 roll. 10 mins after that our next 2 rolls came out... After our food was delivered, we were checked on 1 time in 45 mins. Our drinks, hot tea, iced tea & wine, were never refilled or even asked if we wanted a refill. . Dessert was ordered when our initial order was placed. And never brought to our table. We sat and wait about 10 mins after finishing our meal and the check was never brought to us. We ended up having to go up to the front desk area and ask for our check. We got our check, paid and walked out. Over $100 for a Horrible Experience!!!! After I began feeling like, Why should I pay for the dessert I never received? and why did the waitresses, when I paid, not offer, to remove the desert I never received? You’re OK with me paying for food I never received? So I went back in and asked to speak with the manager, Randy the owner ended up coming to speak with me. He refunded me 4 dollars. Yep an entire four dollars!!! He credit me from the desert that I never received. Wow! Thank you so much. After telling him what a horrible experience it was. After telling him she did not check on me, Except one time in 45 minutes. He offered me an entire four dollar refund. The table next to me was checked on 10 times. By the same waitress. And I was checked on once. His response was sorry it’s so hard to find good help right now. No one wants to work and we’re constantly understaffed. He said he is literally chasing his own tail right now trying to find staff. Needless to say, this was a Horrible Experience. We will not be going back. And the way that Owner handled it was even worse! Now I understand why the staff is,...
Read moreThis review is for the service we received tonight: Wednesday, 7:00 pm, reservations for 8 at a teppanyaki table.
PROBLEM: After the initial order, the waiter never returned to our table. We had to ask the chef for soup & salad after he cooked the entree, because no one ever brought them.
Also, even though we asked for it, our water glasses and beverage glasses were never refilled throughout the entire meal. Since food is cooked in front of everyone, it was HOT around the table. Every person at the table had empty, dry glasses in front of them.
OBSERVATION: The restaurant was not busy; there were several empty tables throughout the house, and we saw several waiters, busboys, a hostess and a female owner sitting at a table just behind the hostess. The Restaurant did not appear to be short staffed.
WHY I WILL NEVER GO BACK: Female owner not interested in our experience whatsoever. When I say she couldn't care any less, I mean she never walked the floor of her restaurant and she didn't want to hear about any problems.
THE REAL MASTERPIECE, THOUGH... Our party of 8 included a toddler that didn't eat. Parties of 8 have a gratuity automatically added. This can not be removed. We asked that the whole tip go directly to the chef since he was the only one working with us. The owner said no.
FINAL-THOUGHT: Even though the food was good, the lack of service created a negative effect, especially since the female owner was disinterested In actually managing or helping her crew. You might say, the head of the fish smelled...
Read moreWe went in at 3:30 on Monday, Dec. 30th and received service from a waitress with dark hair (Leslie according to the receipt). We all left saying "that was the worst service we've ever received". I literally have never seen such lack of people skills and joy from a waitress. The sad thing is that the owner was also waiting tables so you would think they would notice. I am not a queen that expects top notch service but c'mon, no one wants to spend nearly 220 (for only 4 guests) and get treated like you're annoying them. She smiled ONCE and said "have a great day" and that was when she handed us the check. We all thought maybe someone called in ? Totally no excuse!
The tempura was cold and the calamari was $17 for the smallest freaking portion I've ever seen! I'll take our business to Jin Sushi. Their food is better, service is better, and prices are better.
Everyone knows: Okay food + Terrible service + high prices = 0/10 experience. At least good service can sometimes make you want to go back--it can even make the food less crappy! Not there! The ambiance was bar heavy which is probably what keeps the light on-- that and the ridiculous prices!!
Kan Pai: hire another waitress that understands what waitressing involves--representing your business. Sorry, Leslie but you should go do something else...
