Sugar Twist Bakery - Brimhall — Restaurant in Bakersfield

Our family has a very special event approaching and need to order a cake. After taste tasting a few other bakeries in the area this spot had the best reviews and decided to give them a try. Curb appeal the bakery is dark and appeared closed. Once inside we received a friendly greeting.

Now to the actual items ordered:

Princess Cupcake: looks can be deceiving. Extremely dry and disappointing. After cutting it in half we were surprised to find it is filled what appears to be custard. Would not recommend

Chocolate Kiss: again dry and taste similar to a plastic wrap store bought Hostess cupcake. This one also has a whip filling. Not recommending this either.

Lemon Bar: as one would expect it's sour and filled with lemon taste. Our party all agreed it was "okay"

Lastly we ordered the cannoli. Sorry but if you are hoping for anything remotely close to an actual cannoli better pass on this.

Open early and still operating with the sort of social distancing that presumes no one in Bakersfield is vaccinated Sugar Twist Bakery is a family-owned spot with two locations, California pricing yielding little of “value” though customer service is pleasant.

Visited just after 6:30am on Christmas Eve, thick Sugar Cookies with thicker Frosting $4 or more depending on size, Sugar Twist’s Cinnamon Roll comes highly recommended despite its frankly average performance while Cupcakes see “Bugs Bunny” Carrot Cake well-spiced and moist with a good amount of Cream Cheese Frosting on top.

Equally impressive with Peanut Butter Cup, four rich bites for $2.99, Donuts are hit and miss with still-warm Blueberry eating akin to a fried Muffin loaded with Fruit while two featuring Chocolate need Coffee or Milk alongside to account for the Cocoa...

My family and I, were heading back home to Arizona, from visiting my father in the hospital. Wanted to look for something sugar-free for him, and for us. I searched Google for the best donuts in Bakersfield, and found Sugar Twist Bakery. I remember reading a few reviews about their "Cream Cheese Puffs." I did not find anything sugar-free, however, I bought a few items for family members back home, plus the puffs.

The girl at the counter was very pleasant and cordial. The place was nicely decorated for Easter. Very nice place! ...So, my hubby and I, are on a Keto Diet; but temptation and stress, a few miles later. Ha! And, we NEVER CHEAT! We tried and shared a "Cream Cheese Puff!" OMG!! They were stupidly, ridiculously, delicious!! You have to try them, at least...
