Smitten — Restaurant in Bakersfield

We dined with out-of-town friends on a Saturday night. We arrived around 6:30p to a fairly empty restaurant with live music for entertainment. As we caught up with our friends we enjoyed some drinks. I had an Old Fashioned and it was an excellent choice - smooth and well made. Three of us had the California Burger while the forth dined on a Garden Salad with Chicken. No one was overly impressed. All the burgers were lukewarm at best and not a single one was prepared as requested. My medium-well burger was medium-rare at best. I had a salad instead of fries and it was 90% arugula and was served with the wrong dressing. Those who ordered fries said they were cold. Food should be prepared as ordered and served promptly while hot - not is such a leisurely manner. We spent close to $200 with tip so it’s not too much to expect that the staff be firing on all cylinders but clearly they were not. Kudos to the bartender tho, my Old Fashioned was the highlight of my night. This wasn’t my first visit to Smitten; I was underwhelmed last time as well, so I think I’ll be passing on any...

Very rude employees. I went yesterday to meet 3 friends in this place and 2 of us arrived early. No one was in the reception to get them seated, so they walked in and took one of these many empty tables. Then me and my and my other friends arrived like 10 minutes after and went to the same table. One of the employees came and asked all of us to leave the table which wasn’t reserved to any other customer and just wanted us to wait 5 to 10 minutes to be seated again in the same table with a waiter. Unbelievable the way they rejected to understand that it didn’t make any sense, we were already in and the store was have not any reservations on this table. Also, they had like another 3 to 5 empty tables but they were rude even in the way they spoke to us and didn’t even apologise for asking us to leave the table. Long story short we left the this place and went to better place where they respect their customers. Don’t recommending...

Came here with my mom for the first time today around 2pm, Feb 20, 2021. I got the Avocado Smash sandwich, a side of fries and a hot chai latte, my mom got the steak sandwich with the same drink and shared the fries. The ambiance was incredibly cute and quaint and my kinda style. Very modern, and elegant but casual! I noticed all ages there so it’s a great fit for anyone, the weather was beautiful and a little windy, but we sat on the bench in the sun and it was perfect. The food was very flavorful, just the right amount, healthy, and the balsamic vinaigrette that goes with the mixed green side salad was probably the best balsamic dressing I’ve ever had. As for the fries, the seasoning was absolutely perfect and delicious, wasn’t overpowering and one of the best seasoned fries I’ve had in a long time!
