On September 7th, 2022 at about 4:30pm I had ordered subway at store 21501 located on white ln in Bakersfield California. When it came time to pay, I swiped my card. A few moments later the worker looked confused and was trying to figure out something on the system. She then told me that the payment hadn't gone through. I check my back and yes, the transaction had gone through. At this point I didn't feel comfortable paying again. She called her boss to explain the situation and the store owner just said "she has to pay again". Again, I didn't feel comfortable with this, knowing the food had already been purchased. I asked to speak with the owner and they accepted. In this call I was treated very poorly! The customer service was absolutely horrible. The store owner informed me "mam, the payment didn't go through and you just need to pay again, the first one wont charge" I respectfully declined because I knew I had already paid. She responded with " you just need to pay again and if both payments go through you can just dispute it with your back". I said "I'm sorry, but why should I have to go through all of that, all that time and trouble over some sandwiches?!" I then said look, if you won't give me my money back or the food I will just leave and sort this out later. The store owner then said "no mam! You NEED to pay for the food! It's a waste and my money you are wasting!". At this point I am angry and politely said "no, I do not have to RE-PAY for food that I am not taking!" I was then threatened with the police! I said "wow, please go ahead mam, I'm right here in the corner of the store on the phone with you and have not/will not be taking/stealing anything!" She then kept demanding I pay again, and "figure it out later". I finally left the store WITHOUT THE FOOD!.
I went straight to the back and asked the bank to put a hold on the transaction. Unfortunately, they couldn't do anything untill it a) either falls off and doesn't go through anyway, or b) it post's.
Today 9/9, I was at the back for another matter and asked about this transaction as I was there already. The payment HAD finalized and been processed! After this I returned to the subway store and explained (to a different server) the situation and all that has happened. She tried to pull up the transaction but it was not on their system. She then called her boss. After she called, she said that her boss will need a back statement to see. I said that is fine I will be back in 10 minutes (the bank is next door). I obtained the bank statement, clearly showing the debited amount. I was still met with (vis the store owner) "sorry we can't help you. There is nothing on our system and it's not in my bank account". I said that money can't just disappear.. and it has gone from my account after I swiped at this store! The owner then informed the server to tell me, "fight it with her bank!". This store has STOLE my money! I will be taking further action. *the amount was $39.03. But it's the principle of this whole situation! I have NEVER delt with a business like this before. And that's saying something!
EDIT* I was contacted by the corporate location (and within an amazing time frame! Less then two hours after I made my complaint) and I was informed that they were able to find the transaction and apologized for the whole situation. They contacted/spoke to the store owner. They told me my refund was ready to be picked up. To corporate subway, thankyou! Amazing service! My issues still stands with this particular franchise though. It should have never gotten to that point. I will continue to support subway, just not...

The lady was still working on my order even though there was only 1 person in the restaurant. I understand since I ordered 5 sandwiches. My problem... 4 out of 5 of my sandwiches were made incorrectly.
