Peggy's Cafe — Restaurant in Balch Springs

Went here 10/27 with a friend. The building itself needs major renovation it looked very run down. My friend and I ordered breakfast. They brought out our food and everything was fine, but they forgot the gravy with her meal. Once the food was dropped off, no one came back to check on us. My friend spilled her entire glass of tea all over herself the table, and her seat. She was standing up cleaning it up and wiping herself down for like five minutes or more and not one time did anyone come over and offer her a towel or ask if she would like another drink, they just walked around ignoring us after that. She got up to use the restroom because now she was all sticky. The woman came over like “ is she ok? we didn’t know what was happening” I was thinking to myself why wouldn’t you come over and check?!? It was quite obvious that she had spilled her drink. My friend was so upset by it she didn’t even eat her food. I honestly feel like they were not as friendly to us as they were the other customers, maybe because we were the youngest people in the restaurant, I don’t know but either way I definitely wouldn’t recommend this place if you’re under the age of 60. I walked in here having no idea what to expect - I just decided to give them a try because their review pics on here looked good! So, let me say this... This is definitely not the first place I would choose to go sit down and eat as a young woman of color. They cater to a much older, more conservative crowd to say the least. I was a little uncomfortable when I first walked in. The “Country” in the name of this restaurant is there for a reason. However, my waitress (and everybody else) was extremely nice and welcoming. They seemed to be having a great time with their karaoke night and even invited me to sing! The food... 10/10. I was very impressed by their food. I had some of their awesome breakfast (btw, they serve it all day!). It tastes like your mama made it. I can only assume that their non-breakfast food would be just as good. Great presentation. Try this place out! I’m definitely looking forward to trying more of their food when I’m in the area but will probably order to-go...

I don't go there much. But my husband never miss a day.I mean everyday no matter where we are he gets up and heads there.we moved over 50 miles and he still got up and drive to it I don't go hardly at all it's his get away he tells me.he just likes to go cause it's nice and quick and even though there are lots of smokers for sure he likes ves how people make you feel welcome.its mostly only people over 50 that go there.if you see anyone young in the place there there with there grandparents.they don't hang out there they just wouldn't fit in.but there more than welcome to come to come and check it out.the food is country cooking for sure and it's amazing how good it is.on we'd it's chicken and dumplings .god there so good and they have singing there on Mondays everyone can come up and sing.and we'd wed and Fridays come and check the enjoyable old time country...
