I gave 2 stars because food was good, price was terrible. I had heard of this place and several friends wanting to go try it because I was told it was so good, so on my way home, I, myself, decided to stopped in to check it out. Food was really good, flavorful. Ok portion size. The service was great except waiting for drink refill and the atmosphere was good but it was after lunch hours almost 3pm so kinda slow. My problem was the price. 👎 I was so disappointed that I don't plan to return. My husband couldn't believe I paid that much with no meat option. I looked for a veggie plate option, didn't see one but I ordered pinto beans, cornbread, fries and coleslaw and had iced tea totaling with my tip $19.83. I had no meat option. I'm floored at the price to eat here. I looked back at the menu...I could have had country fried steak, substituted my mashed potatoes for fries and got beans, slaw for $9.89.......OR Hamburger steak...same price $9.89....either way would have gotten a meat option for much less money. Food was good but not for that price. Unbelievable the charge. I called my friends, sent them a copy of my receipt and the menu too and told them about my experience and they were just as shocked. They all said we can get a better price for good food elsewhere. I came in thinking this could be a good spot to enjoy a meal and I truly believe in supporting your local businesses but at that price, no way. Those prices will never make customers return. Very...
Read moreWe just ate here for the first time and I can say that the brown beans are utterly delicious! They are stewed, which is healthier since its more digestible. They weren't sweet or salty. My only complaint was the cornbread which tasted bad! It had a weird artificially taste to it.
My other half ordered the club sandwich which tasted good. The reason why it wasn't excellent, was because they burnt the bacon. I honestly, think they had cooked the bacon from breakfast , and then microwaved the already cooked bacon. He also asked for white pepper jack cheese and they still gave him American. The ham on the the sandwich tasted like real shaved ham from honey baked ham and the Turkey tasted like sliced butter ball Turkey (yummy) , not packaged meat.
The potato salad and the mashed potatoes are also tasty.
Would have given five stars if it wasn't for the burnt microwaved bacon, misstep on the cheese and the non edible corn bread. Overall, recommend this...
Read moreThe wait time was horrible. For a hamburger steak you get a hamburger patty with canned gravy, cold mashed potatoes and beans even if you order cold slaw. The beans were over salted so be careful if on high blood pressure medicine. The cornbread was bland, dry and cold. It's worth 6.99 but expect to pay more than that. The chicken strips are okay, thank you Walmart. The texas toast is not true flavor regular texas toast. The fries are not salted which is a good thing and slaw is not bad for prepackaged food. The cost is 7.99 for the platter. The overall quality is very much indicative of a tv dinner that you had to wait 45 minutes for. People got up and left because their food was taking so long. No one seemed to care except for one waitress who is new, been there for just a couple of weeks. She was more concerned about customers that were not even her own. She made the experience...
