Fantastic place! My girlfriend and I spotted this little gem on our way to BARCS to check out a new puppers. This Monday we finally got the chance to walk back down and visit the brewery. It was worth the walk. We tried almost every beer (no flights but the 8oz pours are perfect). The New England IPA was my favorite and recommend to anyone that wants a good, hazy, and flavor packed IPA. They are also one of very few breweries to offer a cask ale. Try this as well if you've never had a cask ale. All the beer and none of the burp. Great place that we will definitely be returning to. Can't wait for their kitchen to open! The owner is friends with the team that own Barflys on Fort Ave. I can't wait to see the magic in the kitchen they create since Barflys has the best Pizza around.....can only imagine what a little friendly competition will do for Checkerspot's...
Read moreCheckerspot Brewing should not be marketing a beer that explicitly makes fun of millions of Americans who trace their heritage to the Southern/Appalachian region. I had never even heard of paw paw fruit until I went there and a friend had me try his beer- I was an instant fan. Have also tried the Saison De Fleur: Chamomile beer too and that is very distinctive. Oh! the poster artwork for each beer is collectable. I am not certain if they sell these posters or not but they should- they are classics. Strongly recommended if you are in Pigtown or Federal Hill. Parking is across the street at a lot too so not to...
