So this bakery was closed for the winter and I had been waiting to get here because I’m a big French bakery person and heard good things. I wished they posted news when they’re short term closed on IG or latest pastries for the week or something.

This bakery has surprisingly high quality pastries— maybe even one of the best ones in Baltimore. Bakeries need to be better than “Whole Foods” to make it around here I think….

Staff were nice and welcoming.

The interior decor doesn’t reflect how good every pastry was. It was kind of dark but we weren’t there for an experience (although more lighting could be good). As for the food, you could tell the detail and ingredients and their combination were all quality.

We had the

lemon tart (REAL GOOD) Plain croissant (my test to see how legit the place is; surprisingly very good) Mushroom Quiche (the flavor of this was so tasty and texture of the egg was perfect and had quality flavor) Hand pie with pineapple filling (you need to get this. It was so good and so unique)

This a real neighborhood gem! My only feedback is that it needs a little more fancy factor to keep it up (packaging? Lighting / display?)

So support this local business! And go here if you want a treat or to get something quality...

Far and away the best croissants I’ve ever had. The bakers here are extremely talented. The cakes and other desserts are also god tier. Would strongly recommend.

Update: The scones are out of this world too.

Update: Morning buns and pineapple danish are to die for.

Update late 2022: I have now been frequenting Maillard Patisserie for 6 months since they opened. Their quality and variety of pastries has considerably increased. Caitlin, the owner and head baker, is an absolute pastry genius. She now offers everything from croissants to galettes to cookies to cakes and everything in between. Every single thing I’ve ever had from here was the best in category that I’ve ever had. I couldn’t possibly recommend this place more. It’s one of the best establishments in all of baltimore and far and away the best pastries and cakes...

Slowly but surely becoming one of my favorite spots and definitely worth the short drive from Charles Village/Remington. Not only am I always greeted by the lovely staff but I'm never disappointed with what I purchase hence why I usually get two pastries --one savory and one sweet.

Speaking of pastries, not enough bakeries offer savory ones, or if they do, they're only available on occasion. Maillard never fails to satisfy both sides of my palette, and frequently updates their menu/availability on Instagram.

Seating is limited because the space is so tiny. However, there's seating available outside and the neighborhood is perfect for a stroll while enjoying your pastry.

And, of course, there's coffee. ❤️

All of this is to say if you're interested in delicious baked goods, go through the yellow door on...
