The Charmery Hampden — Restaurant in Baltimore

The Charmery has great Ice cream, they have so many flavors to choose from! You can mix Ice cream flavors,they have sprinkles & M&Ms & other candies & stuff u can add to your Ice cream,You can add Fudge,Caramel,Strawberry Sauce I guess they would call it.They have all kinds of different Ice cream flavors & they have different cones, I like the waffle cones.😀 They have snow balls with different flavors & everything! They give you a card & each time you go to The Charmery & you make a purchase they punch a hole in your card & you can work your way up to a free Ice cream but I believe you spin the wheel & whatever kind of ice cream it land on like a single come or double scoop etc u know like that & The staff are very friendly! They have restrooms.They have tables & chairs u can sit there & enjoy your cold treat!😀 Go check it out! It's a nice place to have a tasty cold treat! I really hate to say this, but the Charmery isn’t charming any more. I moved a while ago and came back in town. Of course, Charmery was a priority! But, what??!! I have no idea why they renovated it and took away all the personality and character. Why oh why? It makes me so sad. The original Hampden location, in particular, should feel like Hampden - which it did with the quirky Matt Muir artwork, individual ice cream flavor signs, the funky ice cream cones along the wall .. and yellow paint. Now it looks corporate and could be any ice cream shop in the world - with an electric sign no less!! It’s funny how the small things make such a difference. How can you get excited while waiting in line with an electric sign? Oh no!! But, there wasn’t any line at all, which also felt foreign. Luckily, the ice cream is still great. I’m so so so happy for all their success, but I’m grieving the experience and feel surprisingly...

It pains me to write this review, as I've LOVED coming here for quite some time.

Tonight's visit was very disappointing. I ordered a double scoop as I always do, which was given to me in either a single or kiddy scoop (the blue container). After asking why the portion was considerably smaller than normal, I was asked if I would instead like the larger cup (the one I'm used to receiving), and I, of course, said yes. Unfortunately, the cup size changed, but the portion did not. Once at the register, I again inquired about the unusually smaller portion, to which the employee at the registered replied "Yea we've been told to cut back on how much we give." This left a very bad taste in my mouth as of course, the price remains the same. To substantially decrease the amount of ice-cream served and to still charge almost $10 ($8.26) is absurd.
