TLDR: Fantastic food, affordable, local, open late, and great staff Bangor Angelo’s consistently produces great, flavorful, and filling food for a great price. It was my go-to for a hot takeout meal during college, and I’m sad that I’m no longer able to constantly visit due to living elsewhere. However, I’m now able to lose some weight! Angelo’s is one of the few places that regularly stay open past 9pm, it’s a local business, and I’ve never had issues despite dozens of visits. I never leave feeling empty. They’re usually busy, extremely so during the dinner rush. I recommend ordering online or in person versus a phone call. Wait times may be increased, but it has never been unreasonable in comparison to the volume of orders. Disclaimer - The Angelo’s up in Old Town is owned and operated by different people, and it’s noticeable. From pizzas, salads, subs, and pasta, to desserts and more, there’s something for everyone who enjoys the classic “Italian” style pizza joint. Angelo’s also has meal deals that are perfect for a quick lunch or a light dinner. The pizzas and calzones are super flavorful, toppings or fillings are not skimpy, and they usually drip grease. Some people may not like the extra fat or flavor, so I recommend getting a grilled chicken salad. The grilled chicken is seasoned well, moist and not burned, and there is plenty of meat to have protein consistently throughout the salad. They also use the grilled chicken on pizza. I cannot underscore enough how good the chicken is! It would be more accurate to compare the subs to Jason’s NY Style versus Subway or Jersey Mike’s. They don’t have a giant pile of toppings, but they’re superior in quality and flavor, and the sizes leave you comfortably full. I recommend the chicken parm sub. They also have a wide selection of Coke products, chips, ice cream, and they also sell dessert. You can’t go wrong by getting some baklava or whoopie pies to go for later enjoyment. The whoopie pies are done very well – moist cookie/cake and proportional filling that isn’t runny or easy to squish out. Portion sizes for whatever you pay are always excellent, and the prices are generally cheaper than other food in the area, especially when you consider quantity and quality. They know that keeping food good and cheap keeps people coming back, unlike some local chain stores. The staff are excellent, friendly, and work well under stress. The food is always great, regardless of how busy they are. Even when the staff are on break, they are happy to chat with customers. Only once, they gave me the wrong salad due to my miscommunication. They immediately, and promptly, replaced it with no questions asked. I constantly see the owner working hard among his staff, which speaks to his character and the type of business he runs. The physical location is dated. It’s dark and you can see the wear on some surfaces, but it’s not dirty. The classic stained glass light shades and aesthetic make the place welcoming and cozy, and I fear that modernizing it would take the “local” feel away from it. Angelo’s in Bangor consistently makes my top three list for go-to places to eat in the area. The food is always filling, it doesn’t break the bank, and it’s hard to get tired of it. If so, the menu is large enough to explore. Thank you to Angelo’s for all the great service, meals, and memories throughout the years! We look forward to more. Best Regards, M.R.

If you’re looking for a laid-back spot with great food, Angelo’s Pizzeria is a must-visit. The ordering process is simple—you place your order at the counter, grab a drink from either the cooler or soda fountain, and take a seat. When your food is ready, they call your name for pickup. It’s a no-nonsense setup, perfect for a quick meal or takeout. Now, onto the food. The small pepperoni pizza is made with homemade dough, and the crust is just right—not too thin, but not thick and doughy either. It has the perfect balance of crispness and chew, complementing the sauce, which isn’t overly sweet or bitter. The bone-in sweet chili wings steal the show. They’re large, meaty, and drenched in a sweet chili sauce that’s the perfect blend of sweet, tangy, and slightly spicy. The sauce clings to the wings beautifully, delivering a sticky, flavorful bite every time. Dipped in ranch, they’re even better. The large steak and cheese sub is exactly what you’d hope for—hearty, well-seasoned, and generously filled. The chicken pizza also delivers, with all the right flavors working together. To top it off, they offer large cups of side dressings like ranch and BBQ, which is always a win. If you appreciate good pizza crust, standout wings, and a casual, no-fuss dining experience, Angelo’s Pizzeria is definitely worth checking out.

Never been disappointed here. I went in to get a salad because their Caesar dressing is the best in Bangor. I also got some potato wedges. The person working at the register took my order quickly as there was a line, but she was very polite the entire time. I was told 15-20 minutes for my order which was justifiable with the amount of orders they had. My order was ready in 5 minutes or less. I had the perfect amount of chicken in my salad, that was also grilled perfectly and was very tender. The lettuce tasted fresh and had a good amount of crunch to it. The potato wedges had a perfect crispy golden brown outside, while the potato on the inside was cooked thoroughly with nothing overdone in the skinny ones or underdone in the thicker slices. Great priced food for the quality they put out. Will always have my business.
