There were clusters of hairs rolled into a piece of sushi and a strand of hair on another in my recent takeout order. There was also hair knotted into the handle of the takeout bag.

The order was placed as a gift for my sister's birthday. When my sister told me about the hair the next morning, I immediately called the restaurant. The manager refused to grant a refund, stating that it was their "hair policy" to refuse refund for any hair found in their food without a photo. I didn't have a photo because, again, this was gifted for a birthday dinner.

The manager was combative and rude and did not offer any apology for the unsanitary conditions. I'm disturbed at (1) the level of uncleanliness and (2) the fact that this establishment has a pre-existing policy to deal with apparent frequent requests for refunds from people finding hair in their food.

The manager stated that all he could do was have the owner call me. Of course, the owner never called me.

I will never purchase from Ichiban again. If the clump of hair in the food didn't turn me away, the lack of customer service...

Ichiban is amazing! I've tried Asian restaurants all over the United States and have never found a place better than Ichiban right here in my home state! The food is on another level, and they take the utmost care in their ingredients, the preparation, and the presentation of their dishes. The owners are incredible people, and their staff is second-to-none! They have dishes to please everyone - you don't have to be a fan of sushi, though their sushi is delicious and so fresh! If you prefer cooked seafood or veggies, try their delectable maki rolls! Are your children a bit more choosy with their food? The salmon, chicken, and beef teriyaki dinners can't be beat! Truly love Ichiban and will be a...

I'll start by saying the food is delicious! But the service is NOT great. We've gotten take out a few times from here, I have a gluten allergy and always have requested gluten free. It doesn't seem to be an issue for the chefs that prepare the food. But the lady that checks me out each time gets mad when I ask for no soy sauce (soy sauce isn't gluten free). Why it bothers her so much doesn't make sense. She's put in my bag each time I've asked her not to. This last time I stopped by I asked for no soy sauce please and she rudely asked me if I even really had a gluten allergy. Um yes I do, I don't eat a limited diet just for fun. They lost...

Don't let the unassuming facade fool you. This modest eatery tucked in a strip next to a Dollar store boasts the best sushi I've had in years. The inside is tastefully decorated and the tables nicely spaced. The service is fast and friendly and the menu extremely extensive. Lots of sushi and sashimi offerings but also other Asian specialties. A friend and I shared two rolls, a salad or two, crab rangoons and tuna and salmon sashimi and everything was fresh, delicious and expertly prepared. Hot green tea and a cucumber martini accompanied our meal. I'm thrilled to find such high quality sushi right here in Bangor.

The hostess welcomed us with wonderful warmth and hospitality, knowing that we are both deaf. I used my iPhone notepad to communicate our order, and it was smooth and seamless. Ichiban passes with flying colors for being deaf-friendly, and I left a wonderful tip for this business that accommodates the deaf community. The food are fresh and top notch high quality! ❤️🤟

Great place to eat after arriving in Bangor and before heading out to Acadia National Park / Bar Harbor area. Would highly recommend trying the ichiban dinner box. You can pick two mains and it comes with soup, salad and fruits - a full meal. For mains, you can't go wrong with chicken teriyaki or shrimp tempura. The pork katsu and sashimi are also nice.
