Apparently this place takes over 1 and a half hours to make breakfast food. Came here for father's day because we have been wanting to try this place. No wait time, so seated right away. We had plans at 12:30, and ordered food at 10:30. You would think that would be plenty of time for breakfast food. By 12 we still had no food, I asked waitress to check we've been just sitting there for an hour and a half, the people who sat down right before us had received there food and finished and about to leave. She said she would check, then proceeded to walk away to a different table to take there order instead of going to check on why our simple order was not done after an hour and a half. I asked to speak to a manager who kept saying there's not much they can do its father's day... maybe you could go check like i asked but nope. Finally we decided we would just leave, I told the staff member and she said with attitude im sure you can see we are busy. I have been to busy breakfast food places where I had to wait just to be seated, if they can get food to you in 20 minutes tops, this place where there was no wait can manage quicker than 1 and a half hours I'd assume otherwise they are doing something wrong. Its breakfast food... it was obviously their error, people who sad after us got there food and finished before we got... oh wait never got our food. The waitress told me they were seated before us but there were several tables I saw empty when we arrived and eating when we left, I even have a picture of me and my family with the empty table behind us so annoying she lied. No apologies no compensation just bad attitudes. I would have liked to try the food here but to wasted 2 hours here on father's day morning only to leave without food and annoyed at the poor service and responses we received asking what was taking so long. Will not be trying the food at this location, pretty pathetic they cant handle a normal crowd and then shame you for wondering why food takes so long. You would think the waitress would check on here own after walking past us so many times. I shouldnt have even needed to ask after that much time I'd be embarrassed if I...
Read moreWe really wanted to like Southern Belle's, we heard a lot of great things about the restaurant. Unfortunately, you can't always trust the opinion of others. The restaurant is located in downtown Barrington, its a beautiful building, the inside of the building beautifully decorated, very clean and modern looking. The waitstaff was extremely friendly, attentive, and kind. The issue was the food quality. Being a southern style restaurant, you expect a few great things, one of those being biscuits. So we ordered the buiscuit basket, the irish bennedict, and biscuits and gravy. The server brought the biscuits out, and we immediately thought BISQUICK.... (see pictures attached) they were cold, lumpy, and tasteless..... again, a southern restaurant should have good biscuits. Unfortunately, these did not come close to how a biscuit should look or taste. The coffee tasted like the grounds had been re-brewed again, and the orange juice tasted watered down. Our entrées were brought out, and boy were they disappointing. The irish bennidict eggs were aqueous and runny. The buiscuits and gravy we made with the same sub-par buscuits and the gravy tasted like it was made with the powder mix you get at Jewel. The gravy was tasteless. The only good item at Southern Bells were the hash browns. Due to their inability to make real buiscuits, we feel the Southern Food Comission should be contacted, and the name southern should be removed from this restaurants name. We give the building and the service staff a 10 out of 10, but the food is a negative 1. Due to the food quality and the cost per person, for sub-par food, we do not recommend this restaurant, and we will...
Read moreBEST breakfast place in the area for skillets! We came here once using a Groupon and ever since, this has become our go-to place to get breakfast or brunch. Their skillets are AMAZING. So many options to choose from with good ingredients. I've been to places that only include a few ingredients in their skillets but Southern Belles always has a good amount and variety. My favorite is "the debutante". It's made with chicken sausage, kale, mushroom, onion, and part-skim mozzarella. No other place makes a skillet like this one, and it's the reason I keep coming back. The portions are huge and they come hot with a biscuit (although it was a bit dry) and a side of toast or big fluffy pancakes. The eggs were cooked perfectly. You can upgrade your pancakes to specialty pancakes for an extra charge, so I got the Cinnabomb pancakes, filled with a cinnamon brown sugar swirl and topped with cinnamon sugar and icing. The pancakes were not as cinnamon-y as I would've liked, but still tasted good! My boyfriend got the hotlanta skillet which comes with smoked sausage, chicken, onion, cheddar, pepper jack, and jalapeño. He loved his skillet too, and no matter where we go, he always says southern Belles skillets are the best. I can't rave about this place enough. Ive been multiple times and each time, the service is always wonderful and the food is delicious. I haven't tried much else on the menu but the skillets are just too good. I always recommend this place to anyone looking to have a...
