Blue Kangaroo Café — Restaurant in Barrington

While I was waiting in line to check out, the owner (I presume) caught a horrible attitude and sent an employee home over being one minute late. There’s snow and ice on the ground right now (people reading this should know it’s the type of ice and snow where you have to drive slow).

Now I would recognize a boss doing his job but this employee handled being late (by one minute again from what I heard) professionally and with apologies.

As a customer I lost all respect for the business, that’s someone income, potentially what pays their bills, and to take it away over one minute made me never want to come back. Needless to say I put my items down and walked out. While I use to be a regular Ill be changing to somewhere with more humanity. Star bucks...

Wish I didn’t have a cheat meal yesterday cause I would have got at least 5 pastries! So many delicious food options.

Through a Yelp Elite event, we were given 1 free drink, and 1 free pastry. My drink was their Jane’s Busy Bed hot latte with oat milk. It was refreshing and I could tell their coffee is of good quality. Although, it was a very sweet drink, especially after getting past the top foam. I have a massive sweet tooth and I was surprised I found it so sweet.

For a pastry, I grabbed the berry tart and the filling was incredible! Definitely homemade. Their outside dough was okay. It was on the chewy side and not flaky or buttery.

This is comfortable cafe, friendly people, chill atmosphere and it seems it’s pretty busy the majority...

The frittata that I had and the breakfast combo my friend had were outrageous! Served with aplomb and gracious respect for the customers - the whole experience was terrific. I could not get out without brownies - the very best in Rhode Island!! (take some home and cut them in half then freeze them - to be taken out when the spirit hits you!!!) The pastries are wonderful - fresh and appealing.

What also stands out is the quality of service - equal smiles for seniors as well as the teens who come in every now and then. A great place to meet friends though out of the way for us Providence folks. (Told you, the brownies are worth a weekly trip or so!!) Overall...
