Fosters Freeze — Restaurant in Barstow

I am a black man and I visited Foster Freeze on thursday, 8/21/25. The young man and young woman behind the counter were very courteous, polite, efficient,etc. The lobby was very clean, virtually spotless, and every table was very clean. I got the sense that this restaurant is well kept. I did not get a chance to look in the restroom because it was locked, and I didn't want to ask for the key simply because I just wanted to look in to see how it looked. The drive-thru was non-stop busy the whole time I sat there and ate two ice cream cones. I had a large half and half ice cream cone. I enjoyed it very much. I enjoyed the large half and half ice cream cone with a very fresh and crispy cone so much so that I went back and ordered a small vanilla cone dipped in chocolate. The chocolate had a peculiar taste and I could not eat it, so I peeled off the chocolate dip and ate the ice cream. Before I left, I went and told the young lady about the taste of the chocolate and she said she would taste it, and she offered me another ice cream cone to replace the one I bought, but I declined the offer and told her I was just merely letting her know about the taste of the chocolate. Although I only bought ice cream cones, I would recommend this restaurant based on my experience and I would just say to anyone to try it for themselves, because I almost decided not to go after reading all the negative reviews. I was very satisfied with my experience and I would certainly visit this restaurant again. The drive-thru was very busy and there were customers at three tables, including the one that I was sitting at, so it appears they must be doing something right. Ordered 2 for $4 grilled cheese sandwiches, a banana shake, and a bacon jam cheeseburger with no pickles. When the food was brought to me, both my grilled cheese were burnt and as i went to check the burger, i found there was pickles. I went up to the front counter and ttold the girl that i asked for no pickles and i wanted my burger remade. Not 1 minute later, She brings me out the exact same burger. And i know it was the same burger because if it was "remade" it would've taken them a lot longer to make, also i opened the burger and could immediately smell the pickle juice from where they removed the pickles. I went straight up to the front counter once again and told them that " i wanted it remade with no pickles but instead they just took them out and handed me the same burger". I told them i didn't even want the burger anymore and they can just throw that one away. This was the worst experience I've ever had at fosters and I'm p*ssed off! Wish i could give 0 stars for how awful the food and...

We ordered takeout & the food was exactly how we wanted it — still hot when I arrived home.

I ordered a turkey burger with swiss cheese, extra lettuce, extra onions, extra pickles, extra tomatoes with ranch — no bun — they made me a healthy alternative.

My Bride ordered a grilled cheese sandwich & mozzarella sticks with ranch. Too much food for her to eat. The mozzarella sticks even taste great warmed up later.

We will definitely be back.
