Route 66 Pizza Palace — Restaurant in Barstow

Worth the time to drive out of the town’s residential area to get to - there’s another pizza shop much closer but they answer the phone as if it’s paining them to do so - unlike that other place the people here are pleasant when they answer the phone and choose to be knowledgeable about their menu so they can help customers order items exactly as they want them. It’s nice, and does a lot to raise my perception of the business.

The pizza may not be what people who know pizza would consider to be “good pizza” but it’s a better option than Dominos or Pizza Hut and this is probably a decent place to have a child’s birthday party at

Edit: went from a 3 star to a 1 Star. Came here late one night to pick up an order. They made it wrong. Offered me refund or remake the following day, well that didn’t help so I opted for the refund but even though I told them that I had paid by card and would prefer that they just do the refund over the phone they apparently weren’t satisfied with the amount of my time that they wasted so they asked me to come in to get the refund in cash, I go in and they give me the refund. I ask to speak with the manager about a related issue, the owner came out and I was not treated with respect - no apology was offered for the situation and I wasn’t made to feel like I was a valued customer.

You know a restaurant will be good when the parking lot is full. We got there just past 7:30 PM and had to park in the lot next door. It's a casual dining experience where you pay at the counter when placing your order. Yet it has a cozy dining area with an adjacent arcade area for the kids. I ordered a medium pizza for the two of us and was pleasantly surprised to be told that for a pittance more I could have a second pizza of comparable value. In other words... the two topping pizza I ordered qualified me to get any other two topping pizza for an additional small change. I changed my order to get small pizzas and paid slightly more than I would have for the one medium sized pizza. On top of that, I got extra sauce on both pizzas free of charge. It was a very pleasant evening after a long day...

I've been here two times with my family and will not go back. We thought we would give them a second chance, and it was just as bad as the first time we went. We ordered a large cheese pizza, garlic cheese bread, and Buffalo wings. Wasn't thinking that the garlic bread would only have 2 pieces and was burnt. The wings were super spicy but good. The pizza was alright, not like their pictures. For the quality of the food, I would not have paid the $50. Way over priced. The staff was very uninviting and had no manners. There is no customer service at ALL. Definitely won't be going back again. They also charge $1 for each extra ranch you get. If I could give this place no...
