The environment here is friendly and a few patrons seemed super familiar with staff. It’s a very casual restaurant with lots of options. When we arrived it took close to 10 minutes to be acknowledged or sat. A girl who was waiting before us had said she’d been waiting and hadn’t spoken to anyone yet either. Yes, they were busy but a quick “I’ll be with you” would have been appreciated. When we did actually interact with staff they were very friendly and helpful. Although they claimed to be a little behind we got our food in what I consider a pretty fast amount of time. They did forget our drinks and I did over hear they missed a few things on someone else’s order but again, they were busy and possibly short staffed. Again -THE STAFF IS FRIENDLY AND ATTENTIVE. The atmosphere is inviting and the prices are SO GOOD! The portion you get for the price is unbeatable. The only issue I had was the food itself. We were repeatedly told this place had the best Chinese in town. If that’s true, I won’t be trying any other places in town because this was absolutely some of the worst Chinese I’ve experienced in a long time. And I really hate to say that because they are such nice people. We can start with the fried rice. It’s very plain and tasted to ME like brown rice. Adding soy sauce to it didn’t not fix it. I was also disappointed there weren’t much vegetables like carrots, although there was onion. I also ordered vegetable lo mein and while I appreciated the variety of vegetables I didn’t get a good portion of noodles because it was completely overloaded with bean sprouts. Maybe 60% of the dish was bean sprouts. The flavor was good though so I might order again if they took out the bean sprouts. The bbq pork was one of the most atrocious bbq pork dishes I have ever seen. I will share the photo because it speaks for itself but please note I took the photo after the person I ate with had some. He was utterly disappointed in the appearance and taste. I did not try it. I got beef and broccoli which was okay except it had an overwhelmingly strong FISH taste. The texture of the beef was soft and tender but the taste was off putting because it gave SEAFOOD not BEEF. Lastly, I had an eggroll. I took one bite and before I even started chewing the bite I was disappointed because it tasted burnt. I literally just took the one bite and that was that. I would not return here for Chinese food. However they offer plenty of other dining options that interest me like prime rib and steak that I would consider coming again to try. Overall, no matter how friendly the staff is or clean the environment is, the Chinese food that WE had here was way too far under par. I would rather drive 45 minutes into Victorville to eat at golden chopsticks than eat CHINESE here again. And as a side note my stomach is kind of rumbling after this...
Read moreSo....I used to love this restaurant before ot changed owners and always gave it high ratings for the food quality. Let me tell you, it has changed for the worse! I really want it to be great and I really want to tell you it's good but I'd be lying. The remodel is awesome 👌 and the old stinky moldy carpet is gone...yeah! However the food and service is not up to par. I ordered the hamburger steak with onions baked potato and pea soup . The soup never came and the meal arrived with no grilled onions, gravy, or baked potato. Evidently they were out of pea soup and baked potatoes on a Thursday at 4pm. I recieved cheap French fries instead and after asking recieved a tiny dishes grilled onions and cold canned gravy. I also recieved a tiny dish of tasteless canned green beans mmmm.. The ground beef steak was cooked well but was tasteless. The whole time I'm thinking Robert Irvine on restaurant impossible would probably throw his plate at the chef and say" blah tasteless" but I was kind and respectful and didn't go there. However, if things don't drastically change the Canton Chinese restaurant will be out of business. I really want...
Read moreGot worst over the years, last visit three years ago, and then it was below average then. Had hoped it was a one off bad experience, no. Funny thing is the place has regulars, mainly older people. Ordered three lunch specials, all came with cold fried rice. Homemade dry egg rolls. Beef looked like left drying out for a day and really black on edges, could of been someone's leftovers. Battered chicken in s&s was dry but with heavy batter tasted like freezer burnt as well. Sauces odd taste, though the Mongolia beef tasted good when licked (unable to chew). Cashew chicken meat was tender and with fresh veg with small handful of roasted nuts dressed on top, err what. Soup was average. Could not recommend to anyone, worst food I think I have come across in over eight years. Think the trick is, is to order American here or don't enter (use side door front door locked on our visit). Final note: this review and edit was typed while sitting on a toilet BTW I had the Cashew chicken this is the four "sitting" in less...
