This was such an awful restaurant. Initially, my family and I thought that things were off to a good start when they served us corn tortilla chips (I am gluten intolerant) and salsa. The salsa was wonderful. Then, in looking at the menu and discussing my diet with the servers, I came to the conclusion that my gluten and lactose intolerances in addition to my vegetarianism would not be accommodated. My cousin, who was also with us, is lactose intolerant and my boyfriend, also with us, is a vegetarian. I ordered a side salad, which was awful--just lettuce from a bag and 1 slice of tomato, 1 slice of cucumber, and too much dressing. My boyfriend ordered the vegetarian enchiladas and a side of tortilla soup. He asked 3 times whether or not the soup had meat in it--when it came and he asked a different waiter, the waiter went and asked the chef, who said it had chicken broth. When the meal came, my boyfriend saw that the beans were refried--which almost always have lard. The waiter had not asked for his preference of beans, and the "vegetarian" enchiladas should not have any meat options anyway. He asked the waiter who revealed that the rice had chicken broth, the sauce for the "vegetarian" enchiladas had chicken broth, and the beans had lard. In California, restaurants that call their meals "vegetarian" are required to contain no meat products whatsoever. This was false advertising, misleading, and blatant lying from the first waiter. We spent an hour in this restaurant--we took a short time to eat, but for about 35 minutes, we waited for someone to come back. A couple came in and wanted to be seated, and waited about 5 minutes for someone to even come. They were calling into the kitchen asking if anyone was there, and no one came. The workers had completely left the restaurant. When they finally came back, they were rude and automatically wrote in a tip for their horrible service. This was an awful experience and I recommend that if you are looking for a place to eat, go...
Read moreThis restaurant is in Barstow, CA. It's attached to a motel for tourists. I'm from California and was just visiting for the day to go to the Outlet Mall.
The restaurant is kind of junky. The decor is old style which would be fine if it were clean. There's a lovely view of the swimming pool except the windows have never been cleaned...I mean never.
We were greeted right away by a friendly young lady. She took our drink order and brought us chips and salsa which was good. We ordered an appetizer of ahi tuna which was okay. It came with flour tortilla chips which were really good. The issue was the app came at the same time as our meal. Everything is smothered in raw onion. Yikes. The waitress mixed up our order twice and the cook has timing issues. Things are overdone or undone.
I ordered the seafood fajitas. The shrimp and the octopus were good. The scallops were slimy and the onions and peppers were pretty much raw. I just ate the good parts. A lot remained. Grandson ordered over medium steak and lobster. The steak came super well done. We sent it back and when we eventually got the replacement, it was over cooked but, not as bad. He ate it anyway. He had a mango lemonade which he loved.
Hubby ordered carne burrito wet. Not too bad but, heartburn city.
It looks like this motel has an event room which is good for locals. A baby shower was going on. Also, there's a bar and a couple guys drinking beers which is fine. In any case take your chances on the food. We won't be...

The food is nothing short of spectacular. Their menu offers a wide range of authentic Mexican dishes, all made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. The carne asada is perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection, and the chile rellenos are some of the best I’ve ever had crispy, cheesy, and full of flavor. If you’re a fan of seafood, their shrimp fajitas are a standout, packed with bold spices and served sizzling hot.
The margaritas are a highlight as well. Whether you prefer them classic or with a fruity twist, they’re expertly crafted and pair wonderfully with the meal.
Hailey is amazing and got a heart of gold.
