I was here last night with my family. We were giving a bucket of peanuts that barely hand any in it and looked like it came from another customers table once they finished. I found that odd but no big deal. The waitress asked for our drink order and then asked if we would like to start with an appetizer. I requested an order of onion tanglers. When she came back with the drinks I asked if we could have some rolls and her response was "after you order". I was just here February 14th with my husband and the waitress brought the rolls with our drinks. I didn't even have to request them. Honestly, I feel insulted. I asked her why and said it was how the servers were trained. If that's true then why is she the only one who seems to do it that way? I feel like we were being judged and she thought we were just trying to get free rolls with the tanglers and drinks we ordered. I thought seriously about leaving but I'm a very stubborn woman and was not about to let anyone at that restaurant think they were right. We were sent a new waitress and told the other one left because it was her time to clock out. I even asked about our first waitress because even though I felt offended I still hadn't really wanted to come off as rude to her or anyone else. The new waitress was amazing and that's why this restaurant is getting 4 stars. The food as usual was good but the smashed potatoes were a little dryer than usual. I spent over $100 there all together last night, tip included. By the end of the experience we were all happy but it should have been a good experience from the beginning. This has been my favorite Colton's restaurant for years. I have never had any trouble here before. I will be back because I think I was being too sensitive :) However, allowing someone one basket of about 5 rolls to eat before ordering there meal is not likely to bankrupt...

I was in the Batesville area for business and decided to try out Colton's location in town. I have eaten at many Coltons all over the USA and wanted to see if this location was just as good or better than other Colton's locations. When I arrived it was at the beginning of dinner service and already starting to fill up with diners. The hostess asked me if I wanted the bar or dining room and I chose the dining room. When I was seated the server in my section came to my table within a few minutes. Once she went over some of the items that Colton's is known for, she took my drink order and gave me some time to choose my meal.
I ordered the Filet with a side of grilled shrimp and green beans. When my server dropped off my beer, she also came with a basket of fresh hot rolls, which were right out of the oven and the butter melted on the buns making it a great snack while I waited for my food. I had asked the server to bring out my shrimp first, and I was in no rush for my main course. The shrimp came out and they were plump and juicy, still hot and served with a side of melted butter with a lemon wedge and on a bed of rice. The shrimp were a great starter and they were seasoned just right and not too salty.
My steak came out cooked just a little over medium-rare, so not quite how I wanted it but I did not complain, as it was a very good cut of beef, and tasted very good. The mashed potatoes and gravy were a hit as they were very good. The green beans weren't much to write home about, but they were edible. Overall a good inexpensive meal, with great service, and the server took her time showing me how to pay on the tablet at the table. If I'm in Batesville again, I will most...
Read moreWe was at this place last Wednesday evening. We stopped by after seeing the Christmas lights. It was pretty busy with a 30 min wait time. We decided to stay. We got seated after only 15 mins. Which they are usually ahead of the time they give you. After we was seated, they said someone would be around to take our order. After sitting there almost 20 mins, they took our drink order. There was another couple came in & was seated next to us. Which came in about the time they was taking our drink order. Our waitress brought our drinks. While the waiter was taking their drink order. We sat there another 15 mins before the waiter of another area asked if we had been waited on. He asked this as he was leaving the table beside us, after bringing their food. We said we haven't placed a food order as of yet. He said he was on it. Less than a minute after leaving our waitress was back & apologized for the wait. About another 10 mins we had our food. As we sat there & eat, the waitress walked by several times, without asking how was everything. She came by twice while we was eating (probably 20 mins or so). First time she asked how was the meal, did everything taste ok, could she get us anything. While asking this, two of the three glasses was empty. We asked for more drinks. Which she brought. While we sat there & eat, we didn't see her but one other time. When she brought the ticket. We've eat there several times over the years. First time we've ever seen this waitress. But when we go back, I hope she's either more in the know or she's gone. This time was by far the worst service we've ever got there. Which is why I put it at 3 stars...
