A special day gone wrong! I ordered a cupcake cake 2 weeks before my graduation. I spoke with a woman who was really sweet (not sure of her name). The agreement was that the cake would be in the shape of the letter T with the Tulane logo printed on it. The order was tallied up, read back to me, I paid for half, and then an email was given to me to send the logo to.. not a problem. After hanging up, I immediately sent the email to the email address that was provided. Skip ahead to the the day I was scheduled to pick the order up, I received a call 45 mins beforehand to be exact that the logo was never received. Not a problem, I resent it because my sister was going to pick the cake up a little later that day anyway. My sister gets there at 230 to pick the cake up and there is no logo. She was informed that it was an extra 18.00 to get the logo printed and so they basically chose not to put it on there. This makes absolutely no sense! I was already charged for the logo because that was tallied in the original price. And even if I wasn’t, when the person called me 45 mins before my cake was scheduled to be picked up they should’ve told me then. OR they could’ve put the logo on the cake and then charged me for it when I got there. But no. Instead I got an UGLY graduation cake with none of the items that we discussed on there. I called to speak to a manager and was told she was not in, no one knew when she would be back in, they couldn’t find my order slip, and that the girl who answered the phone was the only person in there and to busy to look for it. I am appalled by the services here. Absolutely disgusted and will no longer support here. Save your money people and...
Read moreI am heavily disappointed in Gambino’s Bakery. My Grandmother who has been a loyal customer for many years, insisted on having Gambino’s provide the cake for her 80th Birthday party. This was a huge milestone for her and we were excited for them to provide the cake for her Tiffany and Co themed party. We placed an order in person at Gambino’s and paid in full up front. A few days prior to our event I called to confirm the details and date and time of delivery. When the day arrived, unbeknownst to us, there was a random driver sent to deliver our cake. He arrived earlier than the confirmed timeframe and complained and gripped about it. He had the cake in his trunk. The cake has no covering no protection or anything. The cake also had been damaged from the drive. In addition to that, his trunk had icing and debris all over the back of the vehicle. We were not provided with boxes, nor did the cake have any reinforcement for travel back home. The caterers at our event tried helping us to transport the cake into a random box that we found but it was a disaster. The whole cake fell apart and most of it had to be discarded. We were highly upset but willing to discuss the matter. In the end we were only offered a $100 off the cake price that we paid over $1000 for. We countered the offer and filed a complaint and have heard NOTHING since. As a former restaurant owner, I would never treat my customers (especially a loyal one) in the manner we were treated. This experience definitely changed our perspective and future referrals...
Read moreTo begin, I wish I would have read reviews before I patronized this place. I was referred by a relative who knows I've always loved Gambino's in my home town New Orleans. Giving this place a try was a bad experience. I see others had the same problem as myself. I think these people allow beginners to make certain customers' orders. My child's cake looked like a young child decorated it. But that's not the "icing on the cake." (Pun intended) There was an error in the writing, that we didn't realize until we were about to sing the birthday song. They go above and beyond to make sure you know what you want, and still you don't get what you desire. Well, that was my experience. The cake and frosting had both started hardening the next day after the party. In regards to the error, they offered me a 10% discount off my next purchase from them. Lol, wishful thinking. I will never go back to this place. Seeing some of the cakes on these posts, it looks as if the owner himself/herself comes in to perfect certain orders. Beautiful brown people, please be vigilant. The kids get to practice on your cakes. Go somewhere where you can get quality...
