I ordered a vegetarian Pho (was not on the menu) and the vegetables were old and wilted and rotten. Regular Pho was $9.99 (with beef, chicken, etc..), I got charged $11.99. Never have I been in a restaurant that charges MORE for something vegetarian. When I confronted the manager about the rotten vegetables (that I pulled out of the Pho so I could eat the broth and noodles at least), the owner said he would not make me a new one and then did not even reduce the price of my bill. He raised his voice in front of the other patrons that were eating there and threaten to call the police if I didn't pay him the second he wanted me to pay him. I am appalled at his behavior, as an owner and businessman his behavior was so disrespectful and even told me he didn't care I was a previous customer of his. I was embarrassed and felt really threaten by his behavior and assumptions that I would not pay for my rotten food. UNBELIEVABLE. Will never return or recommend this restaurant to anyone. The food was DEFINITELY salty and no cilantro was given to me for my pho (I had to...
Read moreIf you want Vietnamese food in Baton Rouge, this is the place you have to go to. I travel a lot and have had all the Vietnamese food in this area, nothing compares unless you want pho then Ava has an amazing broth.
They're very consistent here so you don't have to worry about going on a bad day where food isn't as good. If it isn't good, it's because it's not your kind of dish.
Good thing about this place is they have an extensive menu so there's something for everyone. Dont like the dish, try another one next time.
I've had bun bo hue all over the South and not many places include pigs blood. When I asked my server with the beard, he knew all the dishes, and even pronounced everything correctly with a Vietnamese accent. So much so that I had to do a double take to see if he's half Vietnamese. He was a good server, I can tell he cares and take pride in his job. Even my American bf I've been with for 5 years can barely say PHO right haha....
Read moreI've been going here for years, and the food and the service used to be superb, but now, Viet Garden is completely awful.
For example, they’ve changed their fried spring rolls to some kind of frozen roll full of cabbage. They used to taste homemade with noodles and carrots; no cabbage. The new ones taste like soggy bad breath roles. The fresh spring rolls are now made with lettuce that's turning brown.
The service used to be really nice. Now, they have some kids working there who are shockingly rude every time I'm there. I hear they are the niece and nephew of the owner, so they know they won’t be fired for a disrespectful attitude. It’s really sad, because this used to be my favorite place, but now I go to Pho Cafe just up the road from Viet Garden, because Pho Cafe food and service are always fantastic!!! Skip Viet Garden and head over the Pho...
