Ronnie's was pretty amazing for my first taste. My co-worker over 2 years ago told me about this place but I never tried it until we were at Parker's Pharmacy picking up a prescription and voila, the smell hit us so hard.
My fiance goes inside and gets boudin. We try three with the kids. We drive off only to get down Florida boulevard close to the garden nursery and I'm telling him we need more. I told him my only qualm was that it didn't taste fresh fried. It tasted like it had been fried and sitting under a heat lamp. While not a big issue, I love to taste my food piping hot to determine true quality.
We go back and they are great. My only drawback became the gamey after taste it haf and I don't like cheese in boudin whereas my fiance and kids do - he got original and pepper jack.
Overall, it's great and we will frequent there. My oldest asks for them every morning and she'll get her wish next week sometime. I may wake her to a box like...
Read moreThis place was horrible, I was hungry and want it a quick lunch. I ordered the lunch special and paid in front, I even gave the 3.00 dollar tip on a 8.99 lunch. They make me wait 35 minutes. Over 20 people came in and took stuff to go. I came back to the counter and asked them if I can order something else, then she realized they forgot about me. I told them, never mind and just walk out. Never experienced that kind of service, three employees in front talking, people on the back cooking and they acted like it was not a big deal. I went to Hi Neighbor supermarket and pick me some lunch. I'm still upset about it, but I'm not those kind of people who wants the money back or something for free. I just think the owner should know about his business and maybe improve the service before is to late and...
Read moreI can honestly say I travel this state and Ive had boudin from Houma, Morgan City, Lafayette and that whole area including Henderson, Krotz Springs to Opelousas and on to Lake Charles. Each boudin is unique in its own way and I can say this smoked boudin here is legitimate and can compete with any boudin in the state. The plate lunches are delicious, and the prices for a fact edge out and beat Billy's or Herberts on boudin per pound. Now in general the price of cracklins per pound is astronomical but if you want a treat, go for it. If you're reading this and truly understand what a good smoked boudin is like or cracklins or a pasta & sausage lunch.. Look no further, hats off to this hidden gem. I came here many years ago and recently rediscovered it and...
