I visited here several times in the past on business trips to Wharton, Boling, Palacios, Blessing, and Bay City. Their salad bar (wagon) was something I never forgot. So I wanted to go there again with friends for a special lunch. We arrived at 11:32 AM Saturday. They opened at 11. The salad bar had potato salad, macaroni salad, tuna salad, pea salad, seafood salad, and 2 or 3 other salads I did not recognize, peaches, cantaloupe, broccoli florets, diced ham, two kinds of soup, a huge bowl with lettuce and other leafy veggies, spinach leafs, crackers, croutons, cheese, bacon bits, and around 8 kinds of salad dressing. We ordered and then went str8 to the salad bar. Just as we were finished with our salads, our entrees arrived. The service was excellent and very fast, almost too fast. I had the grilled pork chops and my wife the fried shrimp. Our friends got the roast beef and the chicken strips. None of us ordered steak this trip. We shared some large slices of carrot cake for dessert. The portions were large and excellent tasting. I brought my 2nd pork chop home. There is every kind of southern comfort food on the expansive menu that you can think of. The lunch special featured around 12 different entrees plus sides and the salad wagon. The price now is still extremely reasonable at just $12.99 till 3 PM. Our waitress Tommie was friendly and quick with all our requests. These other reviews complaining about super slow service are hard for me to believe. We took a long time to study the large menu, then we all ate slow and talked and enjoyed our meal. Then we even had dessert and we still finished in 94 minutes and left at 1:06 PM. Plus anyone who goes to a steak house for lunch thinking it will be fast, well that's not going to happen unless you order the salad bar for your meal. Everyone was helpful and friendly. If you need a fun tasty day trip then head out to Bay City and...
Read moreI've been wanting to try the K 2 Steakhouse since we came through here a few years ago. A friend of mine came here a year or so after we did and let me know it was really a great experience! He was absolutely right! It looks a little plain on the outside, but once you enter, you know you're in for something special. The entry to K 2 is really extraordinarily nice and really fits the Steakhouse experience! It just gives you the feeling you're about to experience fine dining. We were met at the entrance by a very friendly and Cordial greeter and he led us to our table. There are different dining areas within the Steakhouse. What really impressed me was the very nice Salad Bar! It is very well put together and someone checks on it every few minutes to make sure everything is in order and stocked. Our waitress promptly greeted us at the table and took our drink orders. Sweet Tea for me, water for my wife and daughter, and a Coke for our 9 year old. She brought our drinks and asked about an appetizer, and we chose the blooming blossom onion. Afterwards she took our food orders, my wife ordered the Ribeye with fried Zucchini and Mac and cheese, my daughter had the Ribeye with loaded potatoes and green beans, our 9 year old had fried shrimp and Fries, with hush puppies. I ordered the Ribeye with a loaded baked potato and grilled Asparagus. Our waitress was very attentive and Cordial and checked on our table throughout our dining experience! I really loved the inside of the K 2 Steakhouse with its decor and ambience! It really was everything and more that I thought it would be. If we're back in the area you can bet this will be worth the stop again! There is so much more on the menu other than steaks! They have a very broad selection and it's a place you can go in every day of the week and have something different! Just a really great place in the middle of...
Read moreIn town for a business trip and the options seem scarce. The first time we ate over here the food was medicore. We were impressed by the salad and the potato bar, but the rest of our food was bland. The second time I went just to get food for my baby and her mac and cheese was really great, probably the best thing I ate over there. Service was great both of these trips.
The third time we ate here will be our last. I ordered chicken and a potato and my husband ordered pork. We also ordered spinach dip. Upon going to the salad bar I noticed a fly landing on the bar items. There was another at our table.
Our spinach dip came and it was bland but decent. Then our food came. I couldn't even tell if what I was served was chicken. I have never seen a thin huge cut of chicken like that before. When I bit into it I thought I was biting into fat it was so chewy, but it was the meat. It was horrible. After telling our waitress that my food was not good, she asked me if I wanted another, to which I replied no. She told me she would take it off our check. And then she never returned until it was time for our check. When she did return she muttered sorry and took my husband's credit card, not even asking if we needed anything else. I wanted to take the spinach dip home, but my husband told me he had seen a fly land on it multiple times so that went to waste.
My husband barely ate his pork and went to a fast food restaurant after because he was still hungry.
Was a really...
